NetJets upcoming classes
#194
Weds, got a call from them regarding my availability (haven't heard a peep from them since September***).
Fri, got the "If we have a class March 10th, would you be available?" -said I would get back to them soon. I will call them today.
***Timeline:
-applied Jan 2015
-was called to schedule phone interview late Feb 2015 (was very excited)
-Phone interview March 2015
-Offered the three-day Columbus interview the following day
-Interviewed in April at Columbus
-April I was emailed "the email"which the NJ guys told us that meant you're in
-May I was emailed the Phenom "FIT" test. filled it out
-received email week or longer later saying I do not FIT in the Phenom (5'11-200lbs)
-corresponded back and forth through emails May-Oct
Nov, Dec, Jan...... nothing. went silent - looked for other jobs...got some
-Feb17 was asked if I could attend the March 10th class
Feb 22 - just woke up and will decide today - on the fence. any thoughts from anybody? That schedule seems rough - those benefits sound amazing. - not so much.
Will I ever see my wife? gone for 6 or 7 days...come home for 3 or 4? leave again? Is it worth it? I'm just a guy trying to find a balance.
Good luck to all you guys finding a cool gig out there

Keep in mind that you simply will not upgrade here - not ever (no retirement age). So your career expectations need to be built around the FO pay scales, no matter how long you stay or how old you are now. That will be a deal breaker for most.

I realize that there is not a retirement age but do guys really go till they medical out? It's just hard to understand how it's a 35+ year upgrade.

Everyone's situation is different but we do have several hundred pilots over 70 who have no intention of optionally retiring. Most are going to go to at least 65 and we have a very young pilot group. It is an ok job but upgrades for anyone hired will realistically be in the 15 plus year range.

Believe me, I'm well aware of the potential for lengthy upgrades. But if the aviation industry has show us anything, it's that you never know what will happen. That said, what are his ultimate goals/wants? NJ is never gonna be on par with the legacies, that is pretty clear. However, it is still a great job and waaaaay better than most of the professional pilot jobs out there.
