how many hours a month are net jets pilots getting and in what airframe is that?
i see NJ has 2 BBJs.
who gets to fly them and where are they based (if that matters)?

what's your least fav aspect about flying for nj?

is there a nj gouge page anywhere?
thanks in advance for your replies.

I have averaged 400/yr in the Ce750 for the last 4 years. Most pilots I talked to have averaged the same. Weekly and monthly totals vary.

BBJ positions are seniority bid from the NJA pilot list. A newhire can forget that they exist. The aircraft will be retired before a newhire (or not-so-new-hire) will ever see it. None of the NJ aircraft are "based" anywhere....not a factor to pilots anyway. There are 3000 pilots and only 20-ish in the BBJ. I've been here over 10 years and I'm not even close.

Riding on the airlines.

thanks nja capt for your info!
can you explain how the different pay scales work?
i mean, if one is hired by nja, what determines what pay scale they will be paid from? does the pilot get any input about how much they want to fly?
is the 7 on/7 off schedule such that you can work 7 on, then 14 off, then 7 on again?
how often do you get paid - twice a month or every 2 weeks?
what exactly is a 15 day flex schedule and how does an 18 day fixed schedule work? 18 days a month, or 18 days in a row??
does what plane you fly determine what pay scale you get/how much you work?
what determines what plane one would fly, if hired for nja?
why do you dislike "riding on the airlines"?
do you have to fly in coach?
thanks for your time.

Nothing to explain really. You are paid based on which schedule you are working under. All new FOs are placed on the 18 day until released for IOE. It is not 18 consecutive days, they are tours of varying lengths and varying days off. The 18 day schedule is published on a month to month basis. After IOE a newhire is able to bid for one of the other schedules and will be awarded by seniority.

Other than schedule bidding, no.

No. & days on and 7 days off. No alterations outside of vacation/sickdays/training.

2 weeks

15 flexible days, not known in advance. You never know when/what days you will work. You could leave for a week and be back in 2 days. Or you could leave for 3 days and be gone for 7. This flexibility pays a LOT more. See above (?) for the 18 day description.

No. The only variable is some a/c fleets fly more than others, therefore the OT pay may be different. But never less than the base pay.

Needs of the company at the time you are hired. Prior experience “may” play a factor if multiple types are available.

Would you like it alphabetically or numerically?
Crowded terminals
Overcrowded planes
Terminal food
Vertical seat pitch
No leg room
No padding in seat bottoms
Decreasing numbers of FC seats installed (Ex: 2 rows in a 757...disappointing)
Poor customer service (terminal level and corporate level)
Reliability (on time)
Advertisements on tray tables
Advertisements on video screens
FA’s peddling VISA cards
Riding on regional jets in general

The company usually purchases coach tickets and is sometimes forced to purchase FC tickets. Generally we (try to) upgrade ourselves bases on FF status.

do you have to refuel your own planes as a NJ pilot, or do the gruond handlers do it?
i have some mil/LJ experience and don't care for refueling planes in suits/type clothing...
where else can i learn about NJ pilot life? i feel bad about posting 100 questions here...

WOW, that's funny (the part about fueling our planes).

NetJets runs very much like an airline. Everything they have, we have: dispatch, scheduling, flight-releases, flight standards, union, a training dept., a mx dept, etc. Training is identical to the airlines- IOE, company recurrent, sim-check rides, line checks, everything.

I came from the airlines, I've seen both, not much difference, except the schedules. After the flight, we do clean the airplane, that takes a good 5 minutes, and we load the passenegers' bags, all three of them.

If you wanna learn about NJ, drive to your local FBO, and wait for a crew. If you catch one of us, ask away.....

The 15 day schedule is limited to 5 days away from home unless you volunteer to extend. Everything else is right on. You can tell the NJA crews at the FBOs by their yellow ties with a pattern of airplanes that look like nike symbols. We are most commonly found at Signature FBOs, but could be just about anywhere else if the customer requests it. About the most I've had to do with refueling was unlock the fuel covers when we go to an airport without single point refueling (very rarely).

Too bad I don't live or work near a Signature FBO (or any FBO for that matter)...
But that is good info to know.
Thanks for sharing.
