Default Upgrades

How exactly do upgrades work at Netjets? From what i've seen, they have drastically come down since years past. However, does it depend on which fleet you are in? For example, if you get the CL350 to start are you seat locked in that airplane for a certain amount of time? Would someone in the Phenom be able to upgrade faster than you? Or is it just strictly based off of date of hire regardless of what airplane you are flying? I've heard it's down to 15 months now. Is that sustainable for someone possibly being hiring in the next couple of months?

upgrade is based on hire date. There is not a seat lock for initial upgrade. If nothing drastic happens with the economy and we continue to purchase aircraft as planned I think it will stay around 16-30 months for upgrade.

Thank you for that information. Would you potentially have to change airframes and upgrade to whatever fleet needs captains the most or would you be able to just stay in the same airframe?

You bid for what aircraft you want to upgrade in. Only bid for what you want. If you do not want the phenom, Xls, sovereign don’t bid it and you won’t get it. You may have to wait until your seniority holds the aircraft you want though and people junior to you will get upgraded earlier into the less desirable aircraft. As many people will tell you though don’t pass up an upgrade because you never know when the music will stop.

I strongly suggest don't pass up any upgrade to PIC. I was a PIC on the Hawker 400XP and then the Phenom 300 when they were still fairly new with lots of bugs. The Phenom is extremely easy to fly. Not having an APU wasn't a big deal at all. Also, realize that over 60% of pilots are PIC's. So as a junior PIC you will probably fly right seat part of the time. In the Phenom I finished with 901 PIC and 502 SIC. And I started as a PIC.
