Default Buffett Rule

I won't discuss the idiocy or the hypocrisy of those promoting this scheme--too much like the slow pitch softball lane at the batting cage. However, let me throw out a different proposal:

How about a Buffett rule that forces corporate blowhards to pay their secretaries with the same stock options and capital gains that they take to keep their income taxes low?

They want to enact the Buffett rule so that "millionaires" pay as much as their secretaries.

I'll agree to that, if the 50% of Americans that pay NO taxes start paying the same percentage as everyone else too.

When you refer to Americans that pay no taxes, are you referring to those of us smart enough to have enough deductions to pay an effective rate of 0%, or folks that, for example, take all income in cash and declare nothing.

Are you excluding sales taxes?

I do my best to pay 0 income tax yearly since it is unconstitutional.

Default Alternate Buffett rule #2

Why not lower all income taxes rates so they are the same as capital gains rates? Everyone pays the same rate. Why is it only possible for them to consider raising rates to make them equal?

Why not lower income tax rates to their constitutionally allowed level: 0.

It is all just noise, it is a joke told to amuse those who can't understand what it really means.

Sixteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Do they not teach what capital gains are in this country as this whole thing schould be a no brainer ?
Unbeleivably scary that a populace can be so dense about the basics .

That amendment is unconstitutional that is an overreach of government authority.

So I guess we should bulldoze the interstates and break up the military and give each state their own militia again too? The best part about the constitution is it was made to be amended so it could adapt to change. Just because in the 1700's they didn't forecast Turbo tax and h&r block doesn't mean it can't be regulated today.

Pay your fair share. Cutting spending can only go so far and at the end of the day to get rid of the bill you need yo pay more. End of story.

I forgot who it was but someone did the math and figured if this Buffett rule goes into effect that it will cover the governments bills for FOUR DAYS! Like you said, people need to pay their fair share. Like half the population that pays nothing need to pay their fair share.
