Default Best (reward) Credit cards

Just taking a sampling and trying to get out good intel on the best credit cards for every day use. Obviously if you need a credit card for credit, i.e.: you don't pay the monthly balance down to zero every month, you have needs related to low interest rates and terms related. I'm looking for info for those who want to take advantage of the reward terms and do so with the most return.

Here's what I've found and use. Issuer: Fidelity brokerage, must have an account (doesn't need to be active, just some money on account) and or an online checking/savings account.

Terms: No annual fee, 2% cash back, deposited into your Fidelity account. No caps to how much over any defined time. American Express associated. Managing bank, FIA card services (a division of BOA).

Please post your CC issuer if you have as good or (in your estimation) better terms/conditions.

Depends what you're looking for. I have a Hilton HHonors card and a Marriott Rewards card.

The Marriott card is great because it knocks 15 annual stays off/year for upgraded rewards status, something I feel is important given how many nights a year I spend on the road. Without it, I'd never make platinum status. Don't really use it much except for that reason.

The HHonors card we pay all our bills at home with. Between travel and regular spending, I rack up approximately 750,000 HHonors points/year. More than enough to take the family to a nice Hilton resort for a weekand/or just cover fun travel any time during the year.

Costco Amex cards. Get money back from Costco and other merchants/restaurants/gas stations. We make more than enough to cover the membership fee. A friend buys stuff for his company and gets a decent check at the end of the year. Varies from 1-4% I believe. Being Amex its not as widely accepted as the others.

Capital one has a decent one. You can get actual cash back and apply it to your balance.

UPromise. 1% on everything goes into the kiddo's 529. Do all of your online shopping through their website and the various retailers give you anywhere from 1% to 25% additional back to the 529. From black Friday through the end of the year the card alone gave back 11%.

So 11% + 5% (Target's contribution) = 16% back for Christmas gifts I would have bought anyway. Adds a few hundred bucks a year to his college savings.

Does ANYBODY know of a card that'll let you make your monthly mortgage payment? Man, if I could do that, the 1% or 2% back would actually add up to something...

USAA Master Card. I pay as much as I can with it. And I always pay the balance every bill cycle. I end up getting $500 to $600 cash back (applied to my bill) at the beginning of the year.

It's not a matter of the card, it a matter of the mortgage lender allowing you to pay with a credit card.
