Average flight instructor pay
I was wondering what the average pay a flight instructor is getting monthly in a city such as Austin, Houston, or Dallas? I should be ready for instructing this summer and am looking to start instructing. I do not have a family to support, I am spending 600 bucks a month for food, rent, all that crap. Any information is much appreciated.

Where I am in WA, it is $12/hour to start. You get a dollar more for a CFII, MEII, when you get 500 hours, 1000 hours, and something else that I forget, for a top-out pay of $17/hr.

Where I am in PA, $25/hr when the prop is spinning, and $23/hr for ground. BUT it is whicked slow. I have one new student starting tomorrow, and 2 others. One has to ask the wifey if he can start back up with lessons, and the other is short on money...
Pay is good for a CFI, but when no one comes for a lesson...its no good
When it picks up, I will advertise for more help...stay tuned...

True...good point
The guy that worked there before me told me that it took a while to build is clientel, but he said w/in a year, he had about 35 students and he had to give some away because it was too much...so the position would be part time
And if I leave before then...I will DEF advertise, because we need a full timer there...
