Roth Philosophy

Roth Philosophy
I was interested in any comments regarding Roth IRA/401k type investing. Paying the taxes now and having it all for yourself later makes sense, at least to me.
However, recent events have given me pause: the willingness of congress to re-write contracts when it is politically expedient to do so; the insatiable appetite of non-producers for access to money that they did not make; the vast difference between planned future expenditures and revenues; etc.
These factors make me wonder about the wisdom of paying taxes now--anyone else thinking about this.
I am asking about your investment philosophy--not about your opinions of politicians, political parties, or other non-TOS subjects.

It would make sense because future rates of taxation will increase for everyone if the current trend to spend our way into ever deepening debt continues. Of course 401ks have been eyed before as a source of tax revenue and may be eyed again. The future is just a penstroke away, and that penstroke can take us out of this mess or continue to destroy wealth at a staggering pace.
