Default ATM fees

I was surprised today when I went to Bank Of America and got charged $3 for using their ATM, does anybody know which banks don't charge to use their ATM's by other banks? My bank reimburses me the fees that other banks charge but still I'd rather not have a fee.

Good luck... CNN just had a story the other day how almost all banks are starting or increasing ATM fees to try to make up from bad loans.

yea I know, Bank of America charged $2.25 less than three months ago. It's the MAN, always trying to screw a person!

$1.00 - $3.00 per withdrawl 3-4 times a month = not a whole lot.
The federal tax system.......

Who's REALLY the MAN?!?

If you or your parents are military, USAA. ATM fees are refunded every month. Up to $15, I believe.

I'm with Wells Fargo and when I fly on the east coast I can't find a Wells Fargo ATM within 1,500 miles. I end up spending $2-$3 on the ATM Fee, but guess what? Wells Fargo charges me an additional $2 for not using their ATM. What a ripoff!

Then switch to a different bank. My local podunk bank gives me a 5.5+% interest rate on my checking account (up to $25k) and refunds all ATM fees (up to $20-30). Also gives me free check mailing.

Yeah! I've been thinking about either switching to Bank of America or Chase.

There's these things called debit cards. They are generally acceptable means of payment for a variety of goods and services (Exceptions - van driver tips, lap dances, full-proof business investments).

I didn't know all you guys were sporting C-Notes on all of your overnights and that this highway robbery of fees when trying to get money from your bank's competitor was continuing unabated. I can't imagine why someone would charge you for using their facility as a convienence to you. I would imagine $3 is now the cost for not planning ahead and making a stop at your own bank...

Edit - It was my 1,000th post...it was only appropriate that it be laced with sarcasim.
