the door is closed or at least real narrow for 40 year careers. 2022/2023 some folks got real lucky. 35 years (still a looooong time) probably more the norm going forward. Decades as a widebody captain ship has definitely sailed.

I need to check and see the latest average age at DOH but back in the mid teens it was 36-37 years old.

Very, very, very few were having a 40 year major airline career. So to 'fix' that 40 year chart for the average 27-28 year career you have to subtract the top paying 11-12 years.
