New Part 61 Military IPs
Looks like we're about to finally get credit for our instructor credentials:

It states in the explanation of the proposed change:
This would mean that the applicant would have to pass the appropriate knowledge tests that cover the aeronautical knowledge areas on:
• Fundamentals of instructing, including the learning process, elements of effective teaching, student evaluation and testing, course development, lesson planning, and classroom training techniques;
• Recreational, private, and commercial pilot certification, applicable to the aircraft category for which flight instructor privileges are sought; and
• The aeronautical knowledge areas for the instrument rating applicable to the category for which instrument flight instructor privileges are sought.
So I would think you could end up with the CFII and MEI. This would be really nice if gets approved.

I think it's a great idea. I got all of my ratings before entering the Air Force. Except ATP (I was too young). After all this training, some of the best instructors I ever flew with were Navy helicopter pilots. The only area AF (military) IP's may be lacking is the in depth knowledge of FAR Part 61/141. Not that they couldn't easily learn it.

I don't think there will be any flying involved just written testing, but I could be wrong. I don't have any experience with changes to FARs.
