Adapter for a military Bose X headset?
Has anyone used one of these or one like it to be able to use your military issued, single plug, Bose X headset at your airline job?
Southwest issued us the Telex 850, but I'm not a huge fan of it so I'd like to use my Bose if possible.

I've been using mine for the past 6 years. I tried the adapters and couldn't get them to work (would get feedback when I keyed the mike). For about $200 you can get a new dual plug cord from Bose to replace the single plug. Remove a couple of screws, swap them out, magic!

I bought a similar one and attempted to use it. The side tone was so loud that it was unusable.
Someone later told me that Bose will rewire your headset for a nominal fee. Probably a better plan. I use the Telex now and actually prefer it.

I used the 750 with one side off of my ear in the MD-11 and really liked it, but it was a much quieter cockpit and the Captains wore the 750's as well. It seems as if most Captains wear the Bose and it's just hard to hear them sometimes without cranking the volume up.

I have a Bose X from my year-of-penance in the MC-12. The MC-12's kept the civilian two-prong comm input... but in our brilliance, we ordered single-prong Boses.
The maintenance comm shop built one-into-two splitters. Not fancy at all, but they are clean, simple, and they work. I fly with mine in a Cirrus and it's great.
If you have a military connection to the base still, you should check into it. A case of beer is cheaper than $200.

I checked with Bose about 3 months ago and was told they no longer supported the X. Basically trying to push everyone to the A series. Try some of the online pilot shops for the mike conversion kit, cost about $160-170. Good luck.
