Which, when I was going through training, was within a year or so of entering the CAF. I had 4 friends that were Captains before they even reached the B-Course, 2 that made it while during the B-Course. These were all guys who had never had another job in the AF. They spent over a year on casual, followed by pilot training, then >400 days to start IFF, then a 4-5 months wait to start the B-Course.

I have many friends already getting burnt out that are coming up on the end of their first assignment...mostly the married guys with kids. My bros that are the happiest, are the single guys that got Korea out of the B-Course!

To the OP, don't interpret my post as saying the Guard/Reserve is the end all, be all assignment. We have plenty of BS to go around as well! Terrible leadership could take YEARS to move along...could make for some bad times. The plus side is you can go part time any time you wish...down side is there isn't always full time jobs and you may be FORCED to go part time.

If I were you, I would go over the baseops and read the Track Select and VSP threads. Make sure you go into AD with your eyes wide open. UAVs are a very real possibility out of pilot training. I can also tell you, every time I turn around, we have another AD pilot rushing our squadron....all say the same thing. They are all burnt out, want to actually see their kids grow up and want to keep their marriage.

Goodluck with whatever you decide. Joining the military was the best decision I have ever made! It's been a good ride...so far.

If you're asking about the Warrant Officer additional duties here are a few that come to mind. Depending on the command climate you may only be rated on your additional duty.

Fridge
NVG
ALSE
Voting
Tax preparation
Publications
NBC, now CBRNE
Propery Book Officer (supply)
Battalion Motor Pool
S-1
Party Planning Commitee
Armmament Officer (maintenance trouble shooting and interface between Pilots and Techs)

At a certain point in their careers, Warrants 'Track' and specialize in managing programs such as:
Standardization as IP's, then IE's, & finally SP's
Maintenance As Maintenance Test Pilots
Safety Officers (everything from private snuffy drinking enough water to Flight and CRM/ORM)
TACOPs - Mission Planning experts etc.

When I left active duty, Warrants averaged three times the flight time of an RLO with similar TIS.
