It needs to be in a college like I said before, I already had a B.S. when I got my ratings at Broward College, which they have the program as an A.S. and now I'm going thru the cfi-ii course using the gi bill at 100% plus bah. Can't beat it. So far I have spent 7k in my pilot training. The Gi Bill is a wonderfull thing. Now you have to be full time in the school to qualify for the bah.

You have to go through the whole undergraduate program with post-9/11 I Bill. I'm not sure they would even let you do that if you are already just shy of a degree. Maybe, who knows.

It might be worth looking into for a young person, but in this case that's another 4 years...but it might still be worth it to avoid debt as long as you are not planning on going to a major airline. IMO at that age you need to move as fast as possible.

Also as a military retiree, he gets a (small) pension and full medical the day he walks. He could probably survive as a flight student and CFI without a part-time job. Assuming no wife, kids, mortgage, etc.

The OP is going to have his army pension so that would probably make cfi/1st yr/banner towing/etc pay livable.

I think we need a bit more info about the OP.

Do I understand correctly that you have no flying experience whatsoever right now?

What will be your retirement rank? How much will you net from your pension? How much money do you have now? Do you have any debt? etc.

If you love flying, and can feed yourself, then go for it. But you better do your homework or this could be a train wreck!!!!

Completing your degree needs to be top priority.

Congrats on your time in service. Use all the bennies you're entitled. Being in the military, you should be used to low pay, long hours, yet doing your job day in, day out. Starting out in aviation will be no different. I am sure you will have connections with your time in the Army. If not, start making them.
