Default Military Leave CASS

I am going to be taking military leave for 3 years to attend USAF UPT. I am wondering how your airline handles you while you are on leave.

Do you have to turn in your Company Manuals and ID?

Are you still in CASS?

Do you retain the same employee travel benefits for your family?

Do you get the runaround from the company to retain these benefits?

You'll probably turn them in. You will likely not keep the manuals updated while you're gone. You may not even return to the same airplane.

TSA will not allow this, I think there may be a thirty day cutoff (I seem to be able to jumpseat to/from DWE's). If you keep your badge, you MIGHT be able to cabin jumpseat...CASS is not required for this, but many carriers use CASS as an all-or-nothing these days.

Depends on the company. Many do, some don't.

Most likely not. They are not REQUIRED to give you any benefits while you are actually on mil leave. If they do allow you to keep the travel, I'm sure it will not be a problem using it...it will work like it always did, but you probably won't have a crew badge...3-1-1.

I'm currently on 400-day orders...this is specific to my situation. Yours may be different.

I did not, but my ID expires before I get back.

Policies on IDs and jumpseating is company dependent. Your flight benefits in the cabin should remain... and you should continue to accrue seniority, sick leave, longevity credit, etc. If your company ID expires while on ML your flight office will issue another (unless policy is to retain).

At my company, I am still in CASS. Jumpseated quite a bit when I was home on leave. It's all company dependent.
