Whooooah, Nellie!!
All:
The active AETC was merely testing the waters to see what kind of interest they could get from current AETC Reservist IPs. No plan currently exists to actually implement long-term orders for Reservists. I don't hink they are looking to hire extra guys, either..just use what they have, more often.
That being said, I believe the active AF will have to do this eventually...the rapid ramp-up of UAVs and special Ops (U-28s), has pulled guys out of other jobs. And since they were paying guys to leave up until about a year ago, they're short-manned now.

Fellas,
I didn't mean to imply that this was a done deal. Like UAL T38 said, they were just asking who might be interested. I agree, though, about this eventual use of Reservists.
Sorry if I got anyone's hopes up...

UAL T38 is right. I didn't hear them mention anything about adding any more reserve slots to fill these requirements. You would have to be part of the reserve unit with its current UMD requirements. In my opinion, if this actually does happen, AETC reserve IP positions will be much harder to get, even at Laughlin. RND is full. They're pretty much all about the good ol boy system anyway, no matter what they say. Rated staff tours would be the same. In fact, an "active duty rated staff tour filled by mil leave reservist" would be a pretty good gig, and they'll probably be a lot of opportunity for those. No other details or timelines right now. I did ask a AD line bubba, and he said they had heard exactly the same thing. Question will be, are you willing to go to Laughlin. Even DLF may be full if this actually happens.
If I get wind of any other details, I'll post em.
