Paok,
I can't speak to ANG/Guard issues but before you get to far down the road on this, read as much as you can. A previous post on AF or Navy in the Military Board has more info but is AD (active duty) flavored.
The question you should as yourself to make a decision, is simple, do I want to wear the uniform and deal with all that goes with it? Each service has it's own issues and they all come with baggage that is not for everybody. If you want to fly but have doubts about the military stuff, this may not be your best path.
Good luck.

Ang Search
Try WWW.GOANG.COM, I think that breaks it down by state. Unfortunately I finished my degree too late to apply for a pilot slot, but if you want it, go for it, you're in a good position. Also, Pittsburgh has KC-135s and is Guard....

Also try...
Also try www.baseops.net, once there near bottom right of page, under ANG/AFRES link for Aviation Job Listings, should list all aviation jobs out there for any unit Guard or Reserve that has openings, and will tell what Fiscal Year they are hiring for. Don't be put off by that, they hire for a year or two down the road, but it takes that long to get everything done and get to UPT.

www.wantscheck.com and www.baseops.net served me well.....they were practically my Bible-guide-manual-POH when I did the exact same process you are thinking about starting.
Baltimore has an ANG A-10 and an ANG C-130 unit that hires off the street.
I believe there are A-10's in PA but I do not think they hire off the street.
There are C-5s in Martinsburg, WV (167th WV ANG).
I think others have covered Dover, Wilmington, Atlantic City, and McGuire.
Definitely check out those two websites though they will give you all the information you need. Let me know if I can help.

I am just trying to figure out how in the world to get these phone numbers to call and find out..... I still can't even get ahold of a recruiter to schedule my AFOQT's.... Been on the website, and called that 1800 number...

I am looking into different options as I am young, and the airline thing might not work out, and have always been interested in the military. Have talked to several ANG pilots and said I should give it a shot. Filled out a questionaire on the website, and they said a recruiter would contact me. I am not sure how qualified I am, and I know the selection process is very difficult.....This also might be "backwards?" as many pilots are trying to go military TO the airlines.......

Can you apply to different states units? How do you do that? I guess the recruiters will be able to answer most of my questions. Has anyone done this? Is it a good idea?
Thanks
