My favorite is the saturday base clean-up at Salem. When I am deployed I can't wait to wake up on Sat to pick up trash.
I also enjoyed being ordered to dust the front office at unamed squadron anytime the OG or higher came to visit. Sure am glad I was able to put my pilot training to use.

I don't know the entire story. I just heard that someone in a Wing/OG leadership position was flying the initial C-17 assault landing into the new assault zone at Lakehurst, and they landed quite a bit short (but still in the safety zone).
I saw the tire tracks the other night... nice!
I just can't seem to find anyone who will confirm exactly WHO was flying.

Marines call the BDU's "utilities." Every once in awhile a new wing CG comes in and tells us that if we aren't on the flight schedule, we have to wear utilities. That lasts about 2 days and then the guys in skeds manage to have every dude on the schedule for a flight, a FCF, a sim, etc. Funny how we have 4 up jets, 2 at depot, 2 at mod, 2 in phase, and 2 hangar queens, but still have 8 guys on the schedule to do an FCF. Then the CG catches wind of this and comes back and says to wear utilities until you are ready to fly and then change over. Fantastic. I already drive to base in civvies because God forbid I stop and get gas or hit the ATM in the flight suit or utilities and I'm setting a bad example. I just love the prospect of driving in in civvies, changing into utilities to do some paperwork, then change into my flight suit to brief and fly, then change back into utilities after the debrief, and then change back into civvies to drive home. Actually guys should welcome all the change-overs, as surely they add some down time to an otherwise boring and undertasked 12-14 hour work day.
It never ceases to amaze me how much dudes change somewhere between O-4 and O-5 from being a bubba to being an idiot.
I'm now at 4 weeks of freedom, and loving it so far.
BTW, I thought you AF dudes called the scarf an ascot?

Are you serious? I'm at DM, but I've been deployed for the last 5 months. So that's what I have to look forward to? Are 12AF folks participating in the green machine?

I asked what happened when you pinned 0-6, he lowered his head looking at his crotch and said I didn't want to know what they removed <bg>
Unfortunately, lack of oxygen from having one's head so far up the boss' bottom also has a deleterious effect on those who have higher aspirations with previous surgeries.

What we really need is for Secretary Gates to do a clean sweep of all of the polyester princes running the show right now. These tools who've gone to all of the correct schools in residence, but only did brief touch and go's in operational squadrons so they could check that box too. If you're an O-6 or above in the AF today, you are most probably a tool, and everyone around you likely thinks you're a tool. No doubt about it, you've spent 18 years or so on your knees servicing the bosses above you, while selling out the guys below you, and having no F'ing clue what the REAL mission is. I'm at that point in my career where I'm only in it for mercenary reasons anymore. 2 more years until I can get a retirement and go back to my airline gig where management, for all their faults, at least don't try to pretend to give a crap about me or the country or any other esoteric garbage. Now don't get me wrong, I still love my country and love the guys I fly with, but I have an utter disdain, nay, DISGUST for the people running the show...."and every man of sense and character should detest and despise them".
MJB68, I fully agree.
-Botched new tanker acquisition (twice)
-Problems with CSAR helo bid
-Nukes on the B-52 and those missile guys in the headlines for sleeping in their capsule
-And then there's this doozy from last week:
Air Force uses counterterror funds to pay for VIP 'comfort capsules'
http://blogs.usatoday.com/ondeadline...orce-uses.html
I'm proud of what I do in the Air Force but maybe this pressure from the public will encourage some more house cleaning.
No, on second thought I think mandating scarf wearing and strict t-shirt color coordination will bring us back to our roots and re-focus us on the mission.
