My step-dad is in the Navy Reserve right now. He has 11 years active duty under his belt and at least 6 years of reserves to include another year active duty that he was called up for 2 years ago. I am 28 years old, would I qualify for the new GI Bill?
If not, are there other assistance programs that would be available to me as one of his children?

Informative Article on MGIB
Here's a good article on the new bill.
GI Bill: VA On How It Impacts You
As I feared, if you retire(d) or separated before Aug 2009 you can't transfer the benefits to your spouse or children. Guess they didn't think those who met all the other requirements and served in the war during the Bush administration were worth the added expense.
