TACC tracking fuel by AC name
Have any of you guys seen this. TACC's got a website that tracks fuel usage by wing, squadron, all the way down to Aircraft Commander name. I seriously doubt they're tracking this just for the sake of tracking it.
So the next time I call TACC to get more gas than the IFM package says is neeced are they going to look at my history before they approve it. I think you'll be seeing "a few" more diverts and refused missions in the very near future. Flying around the 48 is one thing but flying in places where they don't always let us fly over is totally different.

Cool!
What's the bonus for perfect execution? Penalty or reward for a divert (actual mileage may vary on a divert)? For saving my own gas by doing my own planning/dispatching? What's the penalty for tankering? Can I get 10% of the fuel cost in my travel voucher if I save it?
try this from any computer:

I just submitted a proposal to eliminate all IPs and EPs. I figure TACC can just download my SFDR and give no-notice checkrides from their desk. Here comes VSP round 2!
On a more serious note, we talked about this last month at the Stan/Eval conference. We pointed out several issues with their data collection and with TACC's computer flight plans. So for now, this thing is more of a gee-whiz science project, but I'd expect to see this thing rear its ugly head at OG staff meetings and such.
A3V randomly picked a base/squadron/AC, and it showed him being something like 150% overfueled. However, the audience quickly began throwing spears at A3V - they tankered fuel because they were on a MEDEVAC going through Andrews, and Andrews won't refuel any transient crews and getting gas after hours takes several hours to coordinate. In other words, the AC made the right call to keep this high priority mission on schedule, but TACC thinks he tankered gas for convenience.
Bottom line, make sure you track this thing yourself so that when (not if) you're in the red, you can at least explain it.
FYI, their model uses the AVERAGE of the 3 alternates provided on the CFP, it doesn't use the ACTUAL alternate that gets filed. So if you're going to ETAR and the CFP lists EDDF, ETAR, and EGUN as alternates, but your flight manager filed EGUN, you will show up as tankering fuel. I brought this issue up but I don't think it's been fixed yet.

Riddler,
Ran into a C-9 bud on the beach at Wakakai as my Capt was buying me a Maitai. He was there w/ a broke Travis C-5 and has a May DOS- He's off to the Scott AFRC Sq. Keep the light in sight!
I figured the first iteration of virtual fuel tracking would have lots of garbage in and out. Until ACARS/CPDLC comes into play- then it'll be standard like the lines. It's a shame the A3V/stan eval staffie didn't know that ADW TA is one of the worst in the system and tankering is the only way to stay on schedule to get thru there and home in a duty period after a crossing. Somebody needs to get on the road a few times more... Plus, tankering on an EVAC is pretty smart. A 2 minute form 59 review could have saved that berating and maintained street creds.
Oh, I'll track my own gladly! They keep this up they'll need to pay IPs and EPs someday.... A little something for the effort?

This will get all the ACs ready to come on over to the airlines where they make you fly with the least amount of gas legally possible every time. $$$$ makes the world go 'round. Even in the broke military now.
You just get flak from the CPO/dispatcher about profit sharing instead of TACC wanting a OPR bullet.

Tracks missions not locals.
While I'm somewhat suspicious of this I haven't actually heard of anyone getting into anything resembling trouble off of it, anyone else?
I do think it's more than a tad idiotic. Then again I have seen plenty of guys **** gas away for absolutely no reason.
On the one hand I know no matter what I do for the rest of my career I'll never save as much gas as a 135 will dump when their receivers cancel after takeoff. On the other, I generally do try to not deliberately waste taxpayer money.

I definitely agree with you. I'll always do the little things to save gas and taxpayer money when I can. For example, pushing it up to .78-.80 to save 4 minutes but burning an additional 7k of gas just doesn't make sense for anyone. Anyone that intentionally p&*sses away gas just because they can is, quite possibly, the biggest ********* ever. There is a finite supply.
