Ex-enlisted members flying @ 121 operators?
Just a random question from this ex-enlisted Air Force meteorologist now pursuing a flying career.
All of my flight training is on the civilian side of the spectrum, part 61 Private, part 141 instrument, commercial multi and single, and part 141 CFI.
What I guess I'm asking is, are ex-enlisted guys treated any differently than ex-officers?

Most folks that I flew with didn't know that I was ex-military (Got out as an E5 with 9 years in the guard). Those that did didn't care. Worked on occassion to breakdown a barrier and find something in common with former military guys.

Most of the responses I get are curiosity. There just aren't too many ex-enlisted grunts (11B4V) who did the kind of work that I did flying for 121 carriers. I've never gotten the feeling that the military officers (ex or otherwise) were looking down their noses at me. And if someone did, they'd get away with it. Once.

I (as a reserve officer) have flown with several former enlisted guys. Who cares? I know that the other guy, the captain, will do the job well. He knows that he'll still occasionally have to tell me not to touch something.

Good question.
There are lots of us sweat-E's now flying the line, 91, 121, 135. Many friends from flight school days were prior service, former co-workers also prior service enlisted. I think at some of the majors a military pilot would get more of a nod than someone who was enlisted, or a non-flying officer.
Are you worried that it would be held against you? It can only help, but not quite as much if you were driving a heavy for uncle sam.
At least with your background you'll know what all those weather charts mean.
