Default VR&E For Ratings

Has anyone been successful at using VR&E benefits to get a rating? I'm specifically looking at getting my CFI/CFII and would love to use VR&E rather than deplete my GI Bill (which I recently used for some other things). I've heard it can be tricky to word things in just the right way to get the VA's stamp of approval.

I’ve heard of it being used along time ago… but they started cracking down on it… If it’s possible one of the bigger flight schools will know for sure how to use it. Check out this place (I just googled it) and they have a good explanation. https://goflexair.com/vr-and-e-for-flight-training-ch31

Apologies if this doesn’t fit you, but if you went through UPT you can do the mil equivalency test to get those ratings if you were an IP.

This is exactly the kind of thing I was looking for, thank you!

Unfortunately, I never upgraded to IP while I was in. Otherwise, I would definitely take advantage of that. Thanks though!

My first session with a VR&E counselor was successful, and it doesn't look completely hopeless to get it approved for a CFI. That said, I'm realizing that this is going to be a lengthy process with a lot of learning on the fly (pardon the pun). If anyone out there is attempting to do something similar, feel free to DM me. Maybe with our powers combined, we can figure this out and be able to help the next group of people trying to do the same thing.
