Default Does civilian flight time counts in your military record?

So my plan is to jump from civilian CFI to the USAF, would my couple of hundred hours in civilian flight count in my air force career?

PD: Thanks to all those active/retired guys out there who help orientate the new generation.

No. Showed up to UPT with 3500 hrs, ATP, etc. Everybody starts at 0 time as far as your IP's and AF records are concerned. If you're smart, you'll listen and learn like you have 0 hours too. It will keep you out of trouble in UPT. They don't care how you learned it at XYZ airline or your last flight school.

FNG1:

Technically- The USAF SARMS/HARMS/Flight Records folks are allowed to input your civilian time, as a total, in your records, per AFR 11-401 I believe. Slice is very correct- your civilian flying is not an automatic plus. Keep your nose clean, help your bros in your UPT class that need help. Accept help if you need it. SUPT will make some stand above others. Don't brown nose but don't blow off your flight commander overall ranking. The FAR/AIM/CFI stuff will help, but not like being good with the inflight guide and overall S/A at however many NM/Min your butt is travelling (keep your bucket a few minutes ahead of your your butt and you'll be fine).

Don't forget us Separated and now Reserve Mercs amongst the more honorable active and retired.....

As someone currently stumbling my way through UPT I would listen to what these guys say. Noone asks about my previous flight experience so I don't tell. Take what you have learned and adapt it to help you learn the A.F. way of flying. Your time will be a huge asset to your time in UPT as long as you are willing to learn the A.F. way of doing things. Most importantly use your knowledge to help your bros out as much as possible. The IP's will most likely know that you have previous time just by the way you fly. The will also see if you're helping your bros or just helping yourself and your flight commander ranking will reflect which way you go.

Goodluck, UPT is tough but the even flying tweet it is 10 times more fun than I ever had in the civilain world!

We had a 2000 hr CFI in my UPT Class. He let everybody know that he would be first in the class (65G) and take a multi-engine aircraft assignment because he was eventually going to the airlines. He wound up second in T-37 phase, second in T-38 phase, second in academics and did not win the Commanders Trophy. It was the first class that a C-141 assignment came down. The first guy in the class (former SAC navigator/EWO knew how to play the game) took the C-141. Second place got a C-130.

The others are right. Work hard, study hard, help each other and you will earn respect based on what you do not what you are.

I wouldn't even mention it. I would concentrate on learning from your IP's I saw a 2000 hour guy wash out. Your hours will help if you shutup, listen, and stop thinking this is not how we did it back at xyz.

You see so many UND and ERAU (Or 121 Airline) guys try to tell you they should be able to skip UPT...so hilarious, they do well, but pretty much my whole class was at the same level at the end of our 13 months. UPT is no re-hash of your Commercial, nor is it a glorified checkout program. It is a 13 month examination on how well you handle intense external and internal stress...the by-product is you become a competent military pilot, able to employ your weapons system in equally stressful situations...or something like that =)

By the end of -38's I pretty much agree but a shortened Phase II would have been fine. Formation and aerobatics were needed. Contact and instruments, not so much. My prior experience and being ANG made my life much less stressful going through the program compared to most classmates, so no complaints here.
