Smile Air Force Reserve is hiring - Introduction

Hi,

I am a specialty recruiter for the Air Force Reserve hiring pilots.

I wanted to post on here to answer any questions you may have and let prospective applicants know we are here for them.

Our team covers from Chicago to Washington DC so pretty much the Northeastern United States. If you don't live in that area, I can put you in touch with the right people.

Feel free to DM me, or ask questions here or whatever you see fit.

I am building a website to help with processing and it contains some good info. www.militaryrecruiter.us and the number to the prequalification center is 1-800-257-1212.

I am here to help!

I know that if one is sponsored by a unit age waivers are a possibility, is it the same going the unsponsored route with age waivers? Someone at my unit said Nay for unsponsored applicants...

http://www.flyingsquadron.com/forums...nt.php?id=7439 Here’s a new memo saying the age and TFCSD limits are 33 and 8 years, respectively. Not sure if it applies to AFRC yet or not.

Hi, there are no age waivers for unsponsored applicants at this time. It is correct that the age limits without waiver have just been increased to 33. Thank you and best of luck!

Default Age waivers

I’m a Navy Reservist, age 37 but have an ATP license and am currently an first officer with MESA Airlines. Any chance of getting an age waiver to transfer in as a prior service enlisted to pilot?

There’s a 36 or 37 year old non prior service guy about to start UPT who got hired by a reserve unit. But your chances are very very small to put it bluntly. Rushing to getting hired takes some time, then getting hired to starting UPT is about 12-18 months, so you are looking at 38 at least, probably 39, before starting. The Air Force needs pilots, but there are still quite a few qualified applicants. The issue is on the retention side, not as much on the accessions side. But I for one got hired at an older age (not quite your age...) so I would never tell anyone it’s not possible...just not probable.

I agree with BeatNavy. It is possible to get an age waiver for you but it is unlikely. I know one unit pushed a waiver for a guy who was 39 I believe but he was a member of the unit and had just flown a mission with a General who happened to be the approval authority.

If you want to pursue this route, send me an email with your name, phone number and zip code and I will route you to the appropriate recruiter. I would just give that person your information and ask for the pilot POC list and start calling around to see if anyone would consider you. My email is [email protected]

Thank you!
