I think it's 10% but I'm not expecting to get anything. I'm just mentioning for anyone comparing notes that I got a 95 with zero preference.
You bring up an interesting point to which I've never gotten a satisfactory answer. The VA reps say that no one--not even another federal agency--will know why you are VA disabled, but I have to wonder if that doesn't hurt you somehow in a flying job. In any event I'm waiting to see if a 95 gets me anywhere.

Obviously you can get some compensation for a loss in hearing and still have NO trouble passing the test for your 1st Class physical.

If you can pass a 1st Class physical then it doesn't matter why you receiving disability pay. Now try receiving disability for a claim regarding a illness for example that you would be expected to reveal on your medical application and instead attempt to hide it from the FAA/CAMI then you'll be subject to the law as far as lying on that federal application.

Don't confuse veteran's preference for O-4+ (which there isn't any) with the veteran's disability preference (10 points) which of course any disabled vet rates - not based on a rank.
The VA's website has it well documented the requirements for the Disabled Vet's Preference.

I got an email today with a NOR of 95 for the flight instructor position in Oklahoma. My VA claim hasn't been completed so no preference was added since I'm retiring as an O4. Reading other CBP threads it seems interviews go out anywhere in the mid 80s to high 90s depending on the job, so I'll keep my fingers crossed. The thing I don't like is there will be an email if my app gets forwarded but no email if they don't forward it. That means I'm stuck wondering if I didn't make the cut of if they haven't gotten around to emailing yet. Here's hoping they just email me for an interview and end the suspense.

I haven't heard anything yet. The big CBP discussion is supposed to be over at APTAP, but that's just for the AIA positions because no one's saying anything about the Flight Instructor job. Except, of course, for the guy who got the 103 and will be ahead of both of us
I've read in several posts that people just called the HR contact and were told whether their score made the cutoff. I suppose I'll give that a shot if I don't hear anything.

102 NOR with no word yet, military FW only, 3,000+, ATP, CFII
In case anyone's interested, just saw an ad on USAJOBS for multiple AIA positions; looks like they want FW AND Rotor-qual'ed pilots (rules me out!) Also, I think it closes out 4 Apr.

I went to a FAA weather seminar held at their training headquarters here in OKC over the weekend; not important for this discussion except to say that I had a chance to talk to two of the GS (2181) instructors at the center. One mentioned that they were actually getting away from the multi-rated qualifications at least at the operating bases because it was costing too much to keep guys current in more than two types - and sometimes even in one type. He said that the flight hours had been cut way back.
exphrog - DustOff answered it - but compensatable is the key word. If you get a check then you have enough.
Dustoff - met BC and SM at this meeting. They knew some of the guys that I work with across the airfield. They showed us this motivational video that they play for you guys on day one! Looked like a good time.

An awesome time - but it took the branch's whole fuel budget this year to make it!
