I ran across a CBP Astar helicopter in a hangar at NAS Jacksonville the other day. Very nice glass cockpit (almost like a ProLine version for helos maybe?) A single Garmin 530 installed. Good luck again to those looking for work with CBP. It looks like a great career!

I interviewed in Oct, was offered the position in Jan and went to the Academy in Sep. This was a few years back, but not much has changed.

If you have any questions let me know. Also, the 40 year old age thing isn't written in stone.

This is true - at least now. A friend of mine interviewed in OKC yesterday who is 44 years old, retired military, dual rated and scored a 109. I'm just waiting to hear the results. I'll pass on his story if it contains any details that might be helpful.

MofongoAIA - where are you based?

Default Keep Trying

This round of applicants was crazy high. A lawsuit which removed the age limit for veterans has caused a surge in older pilots with a 10% or more disbility to saturate the applicant pool. The low score is around 97 with some maxing out the point system with a 110. An applicant can still score high enough to hit the mark if they have the qualifications and more importantly know the tricks of the application process

I was one of the ones that was selected for an interview with a score of 104. I am dual rated prior military which helped in the scoring process. I was the only one that showed up for my day out of 2 people, looked to be around 20 folks were lined up throughout the month for interviews. Folks at the HQ's were very friendly and polite. I got through the records review and the oral portion of the interview with no major hiccups. The new scenario based HR panel did not treat me so well though, after I completed that, with what I thought were solid answers I meet with the Director and he politely told me I could reapply in the spring but at this time the process was over.

Not sure what to make of scenario's or what exactly they were looking for in their responses but apparently I did not communicate what the Psychologists told them to look for. Frustrating because I was stoked about being there but can help offer some advice if anyone else is going in the next few days. They did mention another announcment coming out shortly though. I signed a confidentiality clause so cannot be specific on the Panel questions, pretty straight forward though.

If any has any insights or comments I am open to them. Thanks and still think highly of the CBP folks even if I cut myself short on this round. Funny enough Aguidilla was one of the locations I had down too.....(that was for MofongoAIA)

Hey T6 - sorry to hear about the interview process. I definitely wouldn't give up though if you liked what you saw so far. From what I hear of the job from the few I know that have it, and the one who also went through the interview process here last week, it is worth waiting for.

Dude, don't take this the wrong way, but earlier you were on here asking for gouge. Trust me that the NATC guys as well as a lot of other AIA's lurk here in addition to those of us that post. Your login makes putting 2+2 fairly easy - they may have taken a wait and see with you and decided thumbs down. Never forget that integrity is everything for a LEO.

Good luck next time.

That is one POV, not one I agree with but valid none the less. There was no gouge here or anywhere for this board as it was a brand new process.

DustoffVT -

I missing your point with this post. Are you referring to the fact that earlier in the thread he asked for the gouge and now says in his post that he is unable to provide details because he signed a confidentiality clause?

Asking for gouge is one of the main reasons for the forum I think. As for not being able to give any now; well.... I've never heard anyone else on here mentioning the fact that a confidentiality clause had to be signed.

Did t6marine somehow show a lack of integrity in his previous posts or actions during/since the interview? Integrity might be everything for a LEO as you say, but I can assure you that it is the same for Marine Officers too.
