Default Interview

"My budy is giving the flying portion of the interviews in ok city the week of the 15th this month."

I was lucky enough to get an interview with CBP. I was wondering if you had the contact information for your friend. Wanted to see if he could say anything about what to expect. You can PM if you would like with the information.

I ended up with a 103 rating, I am dual rated which helped out and flew in the Marine Corps.

Come on now
If you can fly an airplane or helicopter to commercial standards you will be fine. VMC maneuvers, instrument approaches, holding, etc. Be able to answer questions that would likely come from the AIM, and 61/91 section of the FARs. I would suggest getting a commercial oral exam guide, and reviewing that. The HR portion is a standard HR-type interview.
Good luck

There's some generic gouge over at http://aptap.org along with study guide booklet recommendations and a pamphlet that talks about why folks failed in the past. Good luck, doesn't sound like it's intentionally set up to make people fail.

Thanks for the advice, I may have flown a few different platforms but nothing ever makes interviews easy or makes one comfortable going into an interview. I appreciate the tips and will let you know what I hear while I am up there.

Having recently gone through an interview process myself - I understand your mixed emotions about the job interview. However - based on your experience and screen name here on APC, I'm assuming that you are a end of commitment Marine helo pilot who is finishing up his time as a T-6 IP. If that is the case, both from your fleet experience and you flying background as an insturctor, you have all the requirements that they are looking for in a AIA. About the ONLY thing that you don't have experience in (my guess) would be with an air-to-air radar and air intercept training.

I found the type of flying in the civilian world to be the biggest challenge; meaning the FARs governing P61/91/135 to have been my weakness. For instance, I haven't thought much about VFR cloud clearences in Class B airspace in.......forever?!
I wish I could have answerd IAW OPNAV 3710 and my applicable SOPs

In any case - my advice would be to prepare for this interview just like you have prepared for anything aviation related your entire flying career to this point. Put your best foot forward and show them that you'll be the best AIA around In the end - be yourself and try to have some fun at the interview even!

I hope that you'll come back on here sometime after your interview and share your experience.

When I get my post limit up high enough, PM and we can share some stories and you can tell me what you did in the fleet and are doing now.

My OPSEC must have been slipping to have you narrow me down that quickly but yes I am versed in both and coming off my Instructor tour in the T6.

I plan on posting my experience after the interview to help anyone else out that might get one down the line.

It should be easy compared to my intial HAC board but guess we will see.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, too bad we cannot just answer Per the SOP or OPNAV, life sure would be easier.

Yut

If anyone else has tips or pointers let me know and I will do the same for eveyone else. Check the interview postings for an updated Delta interview gouge from a good friend.

Found out my score is a 95. Anyone have any clue whether or not that's going to be good enough to get an interview??

I have NOT recieved an NOR stating I didn't qualify. So I guess i'm still at the hurry up and wait stage.

Alright, don't get yourself down, i've heard it can take 3 months to hear ANYTHING about these positions. Talked to a few of the guys at Oshkosh, said they didn't hear anything for 3 months, called them in for an interview, then didn't hear anything for 6 months until they called with a start date. Typical government BS. :-)
