Dutch, just to remind you of what happened to me. (and anyone else interested) I had two conditional offers and three firm offers for a total of five different locations before I got through the doors. I wouldn't worry much about Homestead or anywhere until you actually accept a firm offer. You definately have a better than 50/50 chance of getting offered somewhere else other than your conditional offer. Stay the course brother, it's worth it.

Byebyeairlines,
I appreciate the message and the phone call, more than you know. I plan on taking the first duty location they offer me and press on. I'm getting very excited, since Oct. is right around the corner and it will be here in no time. It's also comforting to hear you say, "it's worth it", since we both are married.
I will be in touch. Good luck in selling your house and all the best to your family. I'll drop you a line if I hear something. I think I owe you a beer.
Take care man,
D.

Just interviewed
Hi Folks.
New to forum. Just interviewed yesterday for the May 15 posting. Felt positive feedback and felt good in the process.
They called one of my references within an hour after my interview. I think that's a good sign.
Thoughts?

N2810U,
That's a very good sign. Be prepared for a long haul in "this" process and do not be selective concerning your duty assignment. Just my two cents worth. Another great website is: APTAP - Army Pilot to Airline Pilot for information concerning CBP, FLETC, etc. from pilots who are sharing their experiences. That website is a big help. All the best to you.

Thanks for that!
I registered for that forum last night. Waiting for the confirmation.
I was told 6 to 8 weeks for the word. I'll try to hang in there!
Listed Homestead as first choice, Tampa then JAX. I'll take what I can get!
Hope the wife understands...
Thanks again.
Best,
Don

Just wondering if you are still flying UAVs in AZ? Trying to get into that field now that I was recently furloughed. Have some questions for you and was wondering if I might be able to get your e-mail? Thanks in advance.

I heard a rumor that information on another forum was being posted that people over 40 (specifically military retirees) were now being hired (or at least eligible) by the CBP for positions as AIAs. There might have been some law suit recently settled? Does anyone on this forum have any more information to confirm or dispel this rumor?

USMCFLYR,
That is a very good question and this is the first time I've heard of this "new" rumor. At one time it was 37 years old, then just recently it was bumped up to 40 years old. I suppose the best way to find out is to call HR or simply review USAJOBS.Gov and see what it says.

See: http://www.mspb.gov/netsearch/viewdo...cation=ACROBAT
Or if this doesn't work, Google "Isabella v OPM"
If you are eligable under VEOA, you can exceed the 37 and 40 age restriction.
