I hope so... I would love to still be able to work in the Government. My grandfather and my father were both USAF (non-flying positions) and I want to still serve my country. I know it won't be any time soon (wishful thinking :P) but I would love to do this for a few decades.. I'd rather do this than fly for a regional.
Stick with it, you'll make it. Just keep your thoughts on what you have to do to get there. If it means quitting flying for a while, do it? (like I did) There are many paths to this job. Don't just get roped into one way only thinking. If you find yourself lacking in certain experience go get it. Many of these guys have the flying experience, but don't have anything else to offer. Military or L.E. is looked at very highly. If you find yourself not getting calls figure out why and change it. That being said, many have gotten offers w/out military or L.E.. So see how you rate and go from there. Good luck!

It is nice to hear someone still wanting to serve their country instead of themselves. (Congress, White House, and Wall Street) Did I say that? Sorry APC I know you are very P.C. here. hehehe

I love flying the King Air but I want to fly on a more daily basis, not on a few times a month basis. Plus, the company I work for is rather shady.

First Post- AIA CBP Applicant
Howdy! I just found this forum tonight and am stoked to have found it!
I recently submitted my app for the AIA Pilot Position. Here are my stats:
USMC CH-46E PILOT
Total Time 1340.7
PIC 770.4
NVG 325.1
Combat 342.0
I have commercial instrument ratings in FW and RW and have a multi-engine license.
I am one class short of my MA in Homeland Security, Security Management. GPA 3.58.
I applied via online with scanned and uploaded .pdf documents on 4 April and received my NOR on 7 April. I was able to check yes to almost every one of the yes/no questions that ask about experience. My combat time was in Iraq in the Al Anbar Province flying with the 24 Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEUSOC) in 2003-2005. I’m not sure how my total time is compared to others, but it seems like my NVG time is ok. The majority of my combat flying was done at night on the goggles. At any rate, here’s my NOR.
My Notice of Results came today with the following:
Specialty Code: 001
Specialty Title: AIR INTERDICTION AGENT - PILOT
Grade: 11
Rating: 96
I’m assuming that the max score is 110 with Veteran’s prefs. With that being said, I hope this score is high enough for an interview. I know it’s pretty competitive right now. I’m staying optimistic and praying for an interview.
How long does it normally take from the NOR to the interview?
How much notice do they give for the interview? 1 week? 2 weeks?
Here are the things that worry me:
I own a house in Northern Virginia and took a 200% loss on the value of my property in 2005. A year after this happened, I left active duty and was transferred home under military orders. In my civilian job, I make significantly less than I did as an 0-4 >16. While the Corps was paying me over $2000/month in housing allowance, I’m unable to cover it now because I can’t keep it rented out. The market there is terrible. The result is that I’m going to lose my house to foreclosure within the next several months. I’m worried about how the BI will see the Foreclosure/Bankruptcy/Bad Credit deal. Does anyone have experience in this area? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
At any rate, I hope I am able to find a way to serve my country again. I left active duty in order to take custody of my oldest son. While I’m still in the IRR in the USMC, I applied and got selected as a UAV pilot with the 147th RW out of Ellington, AF in Houston Texas. It’s a bit of a wait to get pulled from the USMC to the TANG though. Well, thanks for reading and I look forward to any/all info that you guys/gals might wish to share. Until then, I’ll be combing through the forums for the above info!
I’m double posting this on APTAP.org and airlinepilotforums.com

It takes about 1 week. I've been declined twice because for some reason they aren't receiving a fax that includes a copy of my last page of my logbook. I think I'll have to scan it this time at a friends house and upload it as an attachment. I called today and the lady said they never got a fax.
