They had a list of questions. I believe about 50.

FAR 91. Review the regs that apply to light aircraft. VFR and IFR ops
Review the AIM. Read it from front to back.
Brush up on sectional, enroute, and approach charts.
Review weather reports.
Airport Signage.
Basic Aerodynamics Questions
Basic Weight and Balance Questions

I brushed up on FAR 91 and the AIM because I have been operating under part 121 for many years.

Most of the questions are common knowledge for someone with a commercial with and instrument rating.

Some may find the ATP test guide to be a good prep tool.

There are no trick questions and it is a very straight forward oral.

What I used is an on line study program: http://www.dauntless-soft.com/. I purchased the Commercial Oral and the Instrument Oral at $31.00 each. It has hundreds of commercial/instrument questions and gives you the answer. You download the program on your PC then after you purchased via credit card your lesson plan ei Commercial Pilot, then they'll send you a key/password via email which gives you access to their server. That means that one has to have Internet in order to use it so it may not work for everyone. Personally I learn faster if I have questions thrown at me as opposed to reading a book (FAR/AIM) and guess what type of questions I might get asked. I found that more than 80% of all the questions he asked me I read from this software so it was worth every penny for me BUT this is because this suits my method of studying...Click on a question and get the answer...hundreds of them till I get them all correct. Hope that helps.

BYEBYEAIRLINES: no not dual rated and since it will take a while from Interview to FLETC (wishful thinking here) I ll be heading back to Middle East late next month. They assured me they'll work with me if selected and not get penalized because I'm out of the US.

I have a sneaky suspicion that me and APACHEAV8TOR are working for the same Task Force in Iraq.

Yeah, it will take awhile unless things have changed significantly. I still have a friend who's BI have been held up for something very insignificant like his transcipts. For me, from interview to FLETC will be a year. I am a little bit of a special case because my wife is giving birth over the first class. They let me defer until the next one, but best case would have been ten months from interview to FLETC. Only word of advice is don't be expecting things to happen quickly. I actually had to stop reading the forums for a while because I was getting depressed watching people get job offers and none were coming my way. Just be patient and it will happen. Stay safe in Iraq.

I got my application in yesterday. Now the waiting game begins with the rest of you all. This is the first job I've applied for in almost eight years and hopefully it'll be the last job I'll apply to for a very, very long time. Good luck to everyone and keep us posted on your progress.

I'll keep that in mind...good advice for everyone. I can see how one can drive himself in a frenzy as time goes by and negative thoughts enter the mind.

No new threads so I'm posting just to keep the chat going.
I wrongly assumed that the references will be called the same day as the interview or the following day but as I found out that is not the case. My references got a call a week after the interview.

That is a good sign, congrats. Now the long wait comes. Just stay patient, you will get the call soon. The other little thing that could happen is, you get a hired under a specific location and later get called with an EOD date for an entirely different location. If you are in the pool for one location, it doesn't necessarily mean you will be headed to that location for the actual job. Good luck. Thanks for keeping the thread going...

I interviewed the day prior to you and they called my references around 3PM the day of my interview. I guess there is not an exact system as to when they call references.

No I am patiently waiting to hear something like you.

Default CBP Predator Pilot

It looks like I will not make the age cut-off for CBP-AIO before I get anywhere near the interview, background check, etc. Anyone applied to the other position of Predator Pilot without the LE portion? Does anyone know what the lifestyle of this position entails? I'm trying to figure out if this is something I would enjoy doing.

Thanks

Thank you, I had no idea that that can happen where they offer a location but might actually end up somewhere else.
From what I'm reading seems like the wise thing to do is accept whatever location they give you and deal with it later on...at least you'd be dealing with it from the "inside."

GOTBOOST: wow 3PM. My day wasn't even finished until 4PM.
