A couple of questions for anybody out there that's already working for CBP.
1. What's your day to day life like? i.e. how often do you fly? Do you ever need to go on the road? if so how long?
2. Once assigned a station can you be moved against your will or is any move after that strictly if you put in for it?
Appreciate any answers. CBP seems like a real cool agency to work for but I still am trying to learn more about it as it seems hard to find all the fax.

Thread dying, just keeping it going. I am just sitting here with my airline crumbling around me, reading forums. Anyone out there with any hiring projections for the AIA position? I've read where they have 500+ pilots. Are these new positions adding to that number or are they replacing retirees? Like I said, just keeping the thread from dying. Also, if someone could answer the above post, that would be nice. Thanks, peace out....

If you go to APTAP - Army Pilot to Airline Pilot there is a plethora of information regarding CBP. All of the above questions are answered and even others you may have.

My friend who got hired had no time in either aircraft either and not really any time to speak of in small civvies and he thought it was fairly easy so with you time in the C-12 I wouldn't think that you would have any problems AT ALL! Good luck and I look forward to reading your post after the interview.

Good luck with the interview. Let us know how it goes. I'm working on my application now. I don't want to submit it with my temporary ATP certificate so I'll wait for the actual card.
Curious, how long after you sent in your app did you get called for an interview. I've got to coordinate leave from Germany to go back if I get called.

I fly one hour in a 172 and one hour in a 172rg and it was well worth it. Slow fight, stalls, and steep turns were the main reason I did the practice. Very glad I did, the only thing I have flown for the last 8 years was a jet. Good luck.

Could you do a write up of your flight check?

I heard the flight evaluation isn't that hard. If you have an instrument rating and are current you shouldn't have an issue. I haven't flown anything smaller than a 737 in 10 years.
I will post up some info after my big day.
