Default USMC RW to AFRES/ANG Fixed Wing

Hello all,

I am currently active duty helicopter pilot in the Marine Corps, but considering a transition to a KC-135 Reserve Unit near my hometown.

I have researched the pubs (AFI11-402), but wondering if anyone can speak to current experience. In order to make the transition from a helo pilot to a fixed wing pilot in the Air Force is it possible to pick up in phase three of the UPT (since I completed primary in a T-34), or will I be required to complete the whole UPT? OR can I skip the UPT all together and proceed on to the formal school for the KC-135 platform (I'm guessing not)?

This has been covered, I'm sure, but I didn't see anything within the past year or 2.

Thanks!

A naval aviator is a naval aviator... the USAF doesn't look at rated pilots the same way. Before you start spinning your wheels, get the job offer first. Then to say you have an uphill climb ahead is an understatement. Best of luck!

Please share once you get some updates as I know quite a few Marines in similar situations.
