1st year pay almost everywhere is $40. What is Mesa 1st year pay again? What about healthcare or lack of at Mesa. It have been no secret that the pay and benefits have sucked yet 24 idiots just signed up.

I wasn't there, and haven't heard anything on final numbers. But from what I've heard over the last week the reps were calling everyone available and the numbers willing to say yes vs those who were eligible to show up were pretty low.
As predicted, a lot of people talk a big game but when it comes to actually stepping up few were willing to give up thier day off to do it.

Yeah, it's easy to blame the union, but if the pilot group doesn't show up, we have only ourselves to blame. IAH makes sense; it's our largest base with a lot of non-lifers who don't care about rocking the boat. If the turnout numbers weren't there, DFW or PHX wouldn't be any better.

I think it was a decent showing, somewhere between 50-60 pilots I think. There were also 2 United mainline pilot picketing with us and pilots from the ExpressJet ALPA MEC helped out with logistics. There were pilots from all Mesa bases, though I think all of the PHX people were part of the union.
One reporter showed up briefly to the location I was in. I was told there was going to be a news story on Houston's channel 11, but I did not see it last night. Tons of people including, pilots, the public and management took pictures and videos. I would imagine next week we should start to see something about the event surfacing on the web. If not, I think the statement in bold below might actually be very accurate:
Things have certainly been very quiet so far. To be fair, there was no shortage of flying public that saw the picket. Also, PR seems to be a big deal in this day and age. But who knows, money is a very powerful thing.

Picketing has no effect on Jo and all the mai line partners will take the tiny guys picketing, because they love the dirt cheap company.
I wish it would, but let's be realistic. Hell how long has it been and they're just now picketing. Mec probably went to Jo and said hey the group is getting upset, Jo replied OK, let's pick a week where nobody is flying(this week) and let them do a picket at the airport.

Additionally, many people have gotten hired at a variety of ACMI/LCC/Legacy airlines without PIC time, so that really isn't a good reason for anyone to accept subpar wages.

Is a Mesa Captain seat really a noticable difference between an XJT/RAH FO seat? From what my MAG/XJT/RAH friends tell me, it sounds like MAG Captains net the same as XJT/RAH FOs. If I am misinterpreting what I've been told, feel free to correct me.

L-XJT 3rd year F.O. pay --> 38x75x12: 34200
RAH 3rd year F.O. pay ---> 43x75x12: 38700
MAG 3rd year CA pay ---> 57 (50 seat base pay)x76x12: 51984
That is a rough estimate assuming these guys are on reserve and don't fly at all. It's up to you to decide if 14,000ish is a noticeable difference.
Also remember that less than a year ago RAH's pay scale was very close to Mesa's. At least I remember the F.O. pay scales were almost identical.
Either way, you don't have to be scientist to realize that if money is the number one priority in your life you shouldn't be looking at Mesa. But there are a few (very, very few) reasons and circumstances, which will make Mesa a reasonable choice. The question is: are there enough of those pilots, who can justify coming to Mesa, to keep the company running?
