Guys--stop picking up open time and spend your off days filling out apps, attending career fairs, and volunteering.

In the short term you won't get your 200% next paycheck--in the long-term you'll get so much more than that piddly amount

It's too late. Open time is almost gone on the EJET CA side. I've said it before. Leave the open time and only pick up the trades to help your fellow pilot out. I'm tired of seeing the reserve grid red and never able to drop.

Man, you gotta look at the positives, it is super easy to pick up trips, you can even add in a CRP turn on one of your two days off and still be legal.

Good luck with that. There are thousands of us with 1000 plus hours of PIC, volunteering, and great resumes and can not get a look sideways from the legacies. Check the stats, United does not like to hire from Mesa, their lowest paid regional feed. They just want us where we are especially as Mesa has more trouble attracting pilots.

Which is sad considering if you ask any of your fellow pilots at Mesa where they want to end up next and most of them say United first, then anywhere else. There are a lot of those who even say they would never work at Delta or AA.

Agreed!! Spread the word, don't offer referrals to the company. Instead send your friends to higher paying companies. This is my second regional, and everything has worked out for me, but it won't for anyone in today's hiring market. Go somewhere great!! Not Mesa. Mesa has no future.

What i was told at a career fair is that UAL values loyalty over PIC time so if you moved laterally because you were at a downsizing regional thats ok, if you were chasing PIC time that is not ok. I know it may not be what some here want to hear, but if that truley is their stance it will not bode well for those who went to Mesa for the quick upgrade.

no more open time. If they cant staff and dont want to raise wages, shut the doors, not our problem

Not our problem, but at the same time it is. I need Mesa to stay in business for as long as I work there, and for my friends who's families depend on that paycheck. Mesa can go out of business and upper management still wins, they are set for life.
