Yup...an attack at a major US airport, similar to what just happened in Istanbul, plus the age 67 rule will slam the brakes on any steady movement to the majors. You are extremely naive if you believe otherwise. Best to be as qualified as possible and network, network, network.
Also, and I can't believe nobody ever mentions this, being a captain and running the show is fun and enjoyable (unless you're one of those submissive types who enjoys being told what to do)

I believe the union sent an email not long ago saying that what you said was the case. Standard rate X 150% X 200% if it is picked up in during one of those "incentive flying periods." Same situation if you get junior assigned during a Holliday I believe.

Because they manage staffing from the rear view mirror. They would rather save a few dollars by cheating people out of the extra money when they're proactive in picking up open time, instead of just pulling the trigger and ensuring that the flights are staffed.

I'm a commuter, no way in hell I'm going to commute in on a day off. How about better lines where you fly more than 2 legs on day 2 and 3 of a 4 day?

It's hard for me to believe that they they can't build better more efficient lines for the pilots even with AAG. It looks to me that they try to keep everyone as close to 75 hours/month and 11 days off as they can. Now they are short and need us to help them. I would be more inclined to help if I had more than 11 days off. I've talked to other pilots at other regionals that use PBS and they get their schedules much, much quicker than we do. I've heard within a couple of hours. Why does it take 6 days to get our schedules? I've heard that they run the schedule multiple times to manipulate different parameters to get the results they want. I've also heard that the company that wrote the software that Mesa scheduling uses has told them that they are not using the software in the way it was designed. That the software was not written to be used the way they are using it. Magpbs chime in and enlighten us.
