I still think after the last Ejet arrives you will see attrition continue but no new blood to fill those seats. Once that happens Mesa will start to go backwards. Once they start going backwards, you will not be able to stop the wreck that follows this time. Back in 2008 this was happening to Mesa but it stopped because of age 65 being put in place. No safety net this time. Get out now while you can. Unless you know you will get 1000 TPIC you better have a 4 year to get hired at a major or it will be a waste of time. 1000 TPIC won't do you any good with a 2 year unless you are a minority or woman. Then you at least have a slim chance. That 4 year is pretty darn important at the majors right now so get that before you worry about 1000 TPIC.

You already see it on the CRJ side with no further airplanes coming.

More pilots are getting hired today without it than any other time. Most of this type of hiring is done by JBLU, Virgin, Alaska, Frontier and a small amount at the Legacy's.
And, not only was AA wrong for what they did to TWA it was also right after 9/11. Those pilots were at the wrong airline at the wrong time.
What are these "other more important" qualifications you speak of? If pilots were hiring pilots, the "other" criteria would be out the door.
Having upgraded, and survived my "trial by fire" and being "thrown to the wolves" upgrade, I've found the experience to be an extremely important "rite of passage". It has made me a much better pilot, and couldn't imagine that theres more important criteria, unless the idiot deciding that criteria is not a pilot with any sort of career experience.

If you haven't noticed lately, there are numerous pilots being hired with zero TPIC. And, if you also haven't noticed pilots aren't doing the hiring. Human Resources has taken over all of the hiring at most airlines. These other qualifications that they decide are important are; military, 4 yr degree, zero failures, reference letters, and more.

Most junior PHX FO is a Dec 3 2015 hire. So with training taking about 3 months, you're looking at roughly 3-4 months in DFW or IAD before you can hold PHX.

Also, ground is in PHX and not sure when sims are at these days. Most likely STL or maybe CMH?

We are really short of FOs in DFW so I would expect IAD or DFW out of training. That could change as the summer flying slows down. Sim could be in PHX but they also use sims in Wisconsin or Minnesota, can't remember which, and Copenhagen but I don't think they're doing Copenhagen anymore.

They are off and on with the Copenhagen SIM but I think they try to avoid sending new hires there since the failure rate goes up when they do. The current CRJ upgrade class all got PHX for SIM.

Yup...an attack at a major US airport, similar to what just happened in Istanbul, plus the age 67 rule will slam the brakes on any steady movement to the majors. You are extremely naive if you believe otherwise. Best to be as qualified as possible and network, network, network.

Also, and I can't believe nobody ever mentions this, being a captain and running the show is fun and enjoyable (unless you're one of those submissive types who enjoys being told what to do)
