I have a class scheduled later this month on the ejet. Any info on the time line for training events? Also, should I be ready to take the atp written before I head to Phoenix?

I have “heard” it is only 4 months for new hires to the checkride. I can’t tell if this is true or a lie. Mesa and CTP Training does not prepare you for the ATP written. You need to do this on your own, with a tool like Sheppard Air.

If it takes longer than 4 months, just enjoy time with family or take a vacation with the United benefits. And, remember to keep studying for your oral during this time.

You will enjoy flying the Ejet.

It wouldn't hurt to be but if you just wait and get Sheppard air when you get your atp-ctp class date they will send you an access code and it's free. You should have plenty of time to study Sheppard air from indoc then through the course in Dallas, as long as you study how Sheppard air tells you to. It's not bad don't worry too much. But if you really want to you can probably get Sheppard air early and have them reimburse you when you get the ctp class date and everything. Good luck!

"Latest Ejet trainee in the crew room. 7 months to his checkride. Not even started IOE yet."

Pathetic indeed and to those who are promised 3-4 months of total training time, understand it's rubbish. Don't drink the spiked Kool-Aid.

We hear the December e-Jet class is just now getting scheduled for SIMs and their times start in May, but that's depending upon the previous classes completing on-time, which almost never occurs. Part of the January e-Jet class is only starting Procedures Training, but almost one-third of that class has left for other pastures.

The Mesa Emperor still hath no clothes and is getting exposed for the fraud it is day-by-day.

For those considering Mesa, ask your Recruiter to show you the Training Syllabus/Completion Standards/Time Schedule and gauge the reaction; if he does show it to you (which he can't because it simply doesn't exist), compare it to others and you'll be shocked.

Since a training syllabus and completion standards are required for a 121 initial training program by the FAA, you make a bogus point. A schedule may not exist (and it really won’t exist anywhere else with specificity, just in generalities).

The CRJ guys are getting through fine.

It is the Ejet guys that are having trouble. The Ejet instructors I know flew the line from January through March and just went back to instructing in April. So, it is not a surprise the January class is just now picking up on PT.

This is all sad to hear. They had a really good training program when I was there. The idiot they hired to run the training program I heard got fired. They should bring back the old training department and fire whoever thought it was a good idea to hire the new guy to shake it up.

Except the "feed stock" has fundamentally changed, both in experience level and in motivation. Altruism isn't a trait near and dear to the hearts of any regional's management. They are putting out bonuses chasing after the better quality new hires, those whose 1500 hours are meaningful and not 1400 hours of piloting the same battle-worn C-206 from the drop zone airstrip up to 10,500, then spiraling down to pick up the next loud, day after beautiful VFR day. That and for guys with a little actual motivation to study, not some entitled guy who now that he has passed his interview wants his first type rating to be spoon-fed to him.

Most regional training departments are having more delays, requiring more sims and more retraining, and longer times to completion than the theoretical "book" numbers. The pilot shortage really is here, manifesting itself as most shortages do manifest themselves, the most desirable products disappearing first.

Not drinking the kool aid at all, but the sim instructors (Mesa instructors) I have had so far are top notch, but they do expect you to put in work outside of sims. They set the standard, and you are responsible for meeting or exceeding it.

They are just as baffled as we are with the catastrophe that is the training footprint.

The CRJ side is also having some trouble getting pilots thru now. The quality of training is slipping there too. There needs to be better standardization with the instructors.

Based on the roster, we have 4 less net Ejet CA’s and 12 less net Ejet FO’s. A loss of 16 total Ejet pilots. Hopefully some of the FO loss is figuring out who stuck in training really isn’t going to move forward.

Under any circumstances, we lost at least 10 active Ejet pilots this month or basically more than an Ejet worth of pilots. Things continue to slide backwards.

The latest Ejet FO’s making it to IOE we’re hired in Oct 2017, basically 6 months between hire date and IOE.
