Sniper once worked here. He has a lot of good historical knowledge of the place, I just wish he wasn't so ambiguous about the info sometimes
I believe Mesa owns 18 of the ejets, the rest are United's. We could easily lose some and absolutely nothing catastrophic would hurt, since we're so understaffed right now.

To say that either United or Mesa own any airplanes outright is a stretch. Loans have occurred. Collateral has been pledged.

Most of the planes I searched were united owned. You have to go to the actual FAA registry to get the correct info. Not planespotter or flightaware. It really is irrelevant who owns them. If they can’t be operated reliably they are gonna go away.

Wrong.
Closer, but not quite correct.
As Bonanzer pointed out, it is a pretty irrelevant topic, but in the interest of putting accurate information out there... NXX301 - NXX330 and NXX341 - NXX360 are registered to United. Only NXX331 - NXX340 are registered to Mesa. Read the placards on the aircraft "owned" by Mesa and you will see that they have some financial verbiage that can be translated to something along the lines of: "We will let Mesa say they own these airplanes, but in reality they don't."
People tend to believe that the entire 18-airplane batch from 331 to 348 are registered to Mesa, but if you paid attention to details when that announcement was made, the deal was that Mesa was only going to finance 10 of those planes. Once again, the next time you are completing that first item of the before start checklist, check the company listed in the registration.
