If the major airlines want these airlplanes flown by contract carriers, they will pay the going contract rate to make that happen.
They are paying every other regional out there adequately so that they can afford current pilot rates AND afford to have and maintain engines on their airplanes. Clearly, it can be done.
Either pay 2017 rates, or take the airplanes back and have mainline pilots fly them. Those are the choices.

Oh there is a definitely a way. It's called voting with your feet and putting this awful place in your rear view mirror. Myself and many others have done just that and I don't know anyone who was worse off after ditching Mesa. Seriously...

JO gets paid a lot of money to deal with this. Who cares if you make life difficult for him and he actually has to tell mainline that he needs more money if that is really the case. You are the lowest paid and this TA still leaves you well behind the others. Don't make it your problem to help JO fix his. Ask for what you deserve and let the rest fall upon JO to deal with.

Nothing we do is going to make mainline magically take back the flying and start doing it themselves.

So, they will either pay the going rate (or the rate WE accept), OR the planes will go back to mainline where they have pilots to fly them.
I do agree that voting with our feet if we don't get a decent contract will also force the planes back to mainline. What choice do they have? They have to have the planes flying with revenue pax to make payments. And it takes pilots to fly planes.

That is absolutely false. The regional industry (except for Mesa apparently) is demanding more money to compete for the limited labor supply. It will reach a point where contracting flying to the regionals is equal to conducting the same flying in house. Mesa pilots need to do their part and demand an industry leading contract. Come on, let's raise the bar for once instead of hiding behind a myriad of excuses.

Regionals will not go away with mainline taking it all back. The regional mark will shrink down to 2-3 mega regionals, but they'll still never make equivilent of the smallest tiered Mainline aircraft rates.
If Mesa goes under our aircraft will end up with another regional, not at mainline being flown by mainline pilots.
