The Meaning of Unity
First of all, all you saying vote no need to stop. Vote the way you feel let your vote express yourself. I read "whole" contract wasn't blown away, but it was not terrible. Pay rates "depending" on where you are in company standing were better than some regionals. It seemed like the ends mean beginning pay and after 15 years of service were definitely on the lower end, but within industry standard by few bucks. The language not that bad. On par with PSAs and Endeavors. I have thier contract. It's definitely NOT top of the line but it's not exactly the bottom either. I think the issue is our pilots wanted to hit a grand slam with this new TA. I know I did. I saw leaks just like every one else and was like no no no. I got it yesterday read it. Asked some questions from it to the union. Got some answers. I'm leaning yes. Not saying im going to vote yes. Before I get the "stand for one" Unity crap. I will vote what I want. It's my vote. But I will stand United with the outcome. Whether it's what I voted for or not. I will stand with collective pilot group. I expect the same from my peers. Don't be like the crying liberals who called foul when Trump won or all the conservatives who wanted to burn the white house down when Obama won. We are better than that. If you like the TA vote yes. If you hate it vote no. When the game is over then stand in unity
Someone needs to learn what it means to stand in unity. After the game is over then stand in unity??? Really? That is like the coach of a team going into the Super Bowl saying, "Men, this is the most important game of the season. I want you to go out there and do what ever makes you feel good. It is everyman for himself. Today we do not act like a team during the game. The game really is not what is important here. But after the game is over, no matter what the outcome, we all need to come together as a team. It is after the game that being a team is important."
Would any coach say that? NO. Standing in unity means that we make sacrifices together for the good of the group. Standing together means we put the group before self. Unity means standing together before the game starts and throughout the entire game. Unity is not coming together after the game is over.
I do not use the company health insurance. I have insurance through my wife's employer. But I told myself before even seeing the TA that no matter what the pay scale was I would not vote in favor of anything that did not offer a good health insurance policy to those who do need it. Those are the things we need to think of. Standing in unity needs to happen now, now after.
This contract is far more important than any one person. I understand that people are struggling financially and want to improve their situations. We all knew the pay and benefits before coming to work here. But now is not the time to cave in. Now is the time to stand in unity. I am not trying to tell anyone how to vote. Everyone has their own choice. What I am saying is to remember it is just not about you. It is abuot every pilot at this company. It is abuot every pilot who will come to the company in the future. What legacy do we want to leave behind?

So, seriously. We learn about this in the company "cheer"letter.
ALPA Federal Court Action
On April 29th, The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia dismissed ALPA’s law suit seeking injunctive relief for Mesa’s incentive and bonus program for new hires. ALPA maintained that this program violated ALPA’s Collective Bargaining Agreement, “CBA”. They alleged that incentive and bonus programs are required to be negotiated with the Union. Mesa filed a Motion to Dismiss arguing that the complaint should be dismissed for lack of subject-matter jurisdiction. The Court agreed and dismissed the complaint.

I Was There
I remember. I voted that one down too. We can just have hope on this one that those who think they are here for just a short time and want that instant influx of cash will think of the entire group and not just themselves.

Oh and the whole Political Action in Play part. Seriously. When did MK become one of our most experienced and accomplished IOE Captains?
Rather interesting read after the other day ALPA blasting out pictures from almost EVERY PILOT GROUP visiting Captol Hill telling them to not screw with safety.

The TA was approved by the MEC with a vote of 7-1 to be sent out to the pilots for a vote. I personally as your Council 87 chairman and captain rep felt the TA was good enough to at least let the pilots decide. It’s not perfect and unfortunately it won’t fit everyone’s needs.
