JetBlue's hiring stats:
250 new hires in 2016
370 projected for 2017
(I think 2015): 6713 apps / 309 hired / less than 5%
If it were that easy to get on, there wouldn't be ANY regional pilots. everyone in my class was mil and/or regional captains with impressive resumes. I don't know about spirit or frontier, but I imagine they are in a similar boat. If it's so easy, why are you still at the worst regional in probably the world?

^^^spot on... I know Frontier hired just 1 out of 5 of the Mesa guys I wrote letters of rec for. They all had lots of PIC and were not going to jump ship elsewhere yet they still were turned down. It takes a job fair or letter of rec to get the interview, then and only then does Frontier hire only about 30 percent of who they actually interview. Much tougher then you think to get hired here even with the low starting pay.

Frontier and Spirit didn't, that last DFW job fair? Only know of one person getting an interview at Spirit, and one at Frontier. Allegiants new pay scale puts them ahead of South West if you take into consideration the quicker upgrade. To say that they are more picky now would be an understatement. I am done spending money and days off to go to a job fair to interview for an interview

I agree--he posted hard numbers, which are the only way to explain reality to people with pipe dreams.
Getting out of the regionals--even to an LCC/low-paying outfit--isn't just a matter of checking off boxes and getting recs, and then waiting to be called...it's a full-time job just to keep your stuff updated, keep your knowledge of the potential employer and your story fresh, and pull off the interview/evals/etc. etc.. EVEN for prior military and EEO preferential hires.
It's like navigating a maze that's constantly changing/trying to hit a moving target--no one realizes what a crap shoot it is until they've actually tried it (but tell that to the bright-eyed new hire Mesa FOs who are "waiting to get their 1,000 before moving on to Allegiant/Spirit/United") lolllllllll

You must live a pretty sad life that you still return here every week to drop the same negative lines and make posts to compliment the people that agree with you. I'm not about to defend Mesa on any level, but you're on par with that facebitten guy.
When I leave I definitely won't be thinking about this thread in my idle time.

I was hired when every regional was very selective still, including Mesa. It wasn't a single phone interview but multiple ones. I was hired right after the bankruptcy. I never had to justify going to Mesa, the job was a million times better than what I was doing at the time. The situation I am in today I could never predict would happen. Priorites change, needs change. Being locked into a career based on seniority is the worst thing I ever decided to do.

That's all fine and good. The problem I have is comparing CA wages to FO wages. If you are somehow twistingnanlessor contract into a better one because of current upgrade times, I think you are setting yourself up for more disappointment. Allegiant is not even in the ballpark of the other discussed carriers. Add in mx issues and the way pilots are treated and it sounds like an outright dumpster fire. I'm glad the early upgrade worked out for you, but consider upgrade times in overall compensation calculations is just promoting low pay.
But of course I say this as someone who lives 10 minutes from G4's largest domicile and commutes to the lovely city of Houston for my current gig.
