Oddly enough though, that would work out for pilots, wouldn't it? Bedford gutted everything except the labor contracts.

The other thing is Mesa needs to wait X amount of years (8?) to declare Chapter 11 again. Has it been long enough since the last time?

Maybe, maybe not. He could use it to dump planes if he can't pay for these engines he kept blaming for your lack of pay, or just to dump some of the older ones. Or maybe to dump the -700s. But if planes went obviously that would be bad for pilots. Who knows. All speculation. Just seems weird. Emerged in mar 2011. Went in in 2010. So 8 years is right around the corner.

Sounds like the "New Republic" JO may have learned from Mr Bryan Bedford. Give the company pilots what they want, cry foul when you can't afford it, file bankruptcy, downsize the fleet, 700s go bye bye, more EJETS from United. For all of those whom I have flown with I've been saying this for a year. Gooood, goood! The Mesa empire shall live forever, and the pilot rebellion. They will be crushed.

Of course that will depend upon the willingness of the partners to play along. They begrudgingly accepted BB's scheme. Would they do it again?

Nothing fishy here. They had a counter proposal a few months back, which was a good place to start (much better than TA1, from what I was told). Mesa has actually been hungry to get this done. Hopefully, the union can take advantage of this historic moment when the company wants a contract more than the pilots!

Bankruptcy would put Mesa out of business. Republic saved $10 million a month on unused planes....what would Mesa really have to gain from Ch.11?

The TA sessions were actually surprisingly quick with the NMB. I thought it would be months in between to get meetings. Happily surprised.

Food for thought:

I haven't heard anything pertaining to this particular agreement, however I have heard Foley mention they are trying some various methods to meet our demands. The overlying issue is the costs associated with engine overhauls as well as other expenses. They may be playing with a 3 year ramp up in pay as these cost are reduced.

Here's the main problem with that. 2013 and 2014 hires are already sub 50% of global seniority. I guarantee, that this contract will go absolutely no where when industry average pay is dependent on any kind of waiting period. The majority of the company was hired in the past 4 years with the premise of a quick upgrade so they can move on. This means pilots who want to see a stable future of this company to be in the minority and that does not bode well for a concessionary contract.

If it's true that the company really doesn't have any money, I can promise you that the majority of pilots here are not willing to accommodate the company's needs. Some may consider this stupid, but truth be told, the low seniority personnel here simply are not vested in the company and with the toxic culture within management, couldn't care less what happened to it. I'm not advocating it, simply stating the fact especially in today's market where jobs are extremely plentiful in all sectors of the industry.

So in short, if the company hasn't come to the table with a comparative contract to other non-wholly owned regional's, you can bet it will simply be voted down.

Yeah, it's no secret that the shoe's on the other foot now. I think it would be ideal to give them a dose of their own medicine and vote it down and stall until we get at least an industry average contract. I doubt it will be that this early on, but we'll see ...

Isn't this great?!?

I am with you. Something is not right. JO has ""NEVER"" given the pilots what they wanted. Never will. There is more to this. Just remember how many times you have gotten your hopes up only to get them crushed. I am not sure Mesa can file bankruptcy so soon again. You need money for it. If he is headed that way it would be to liquidate...and blame it on the pilots. That sounds more like JO.

On an unrelated note...

There are two kinds of pilots in this world: those who set 80 knots, departure altitude, and white needles after a flight, and those who don't.
