I wouldn't consider him lucky. Reserve at Mesa absolutely blows, even when living in base. My guess is that guy spends very few days at home waiting for the phone to ring.

I don't know what it is now, but back in the day, it was a 12 hour ready reserve shift with eight days off for a 28 day bid. Yes, it WAS pure hell.

With my most recent time at Mesa it was 14 out of 18 days on ready reserve. It was a total nightmare, even with living in base.

I still can't believe they had the balls to ask for an exit interview to find out why I was leaving. I told them "If you have to ask, then you might as well close the doors no because nothing I have to add will save you." Oh, and I compatred the place to a 19th century garment factory that actually got a chuckle out of ST.

They'll HIRE sight unseen over the phone, yet do interviews when you quit?!

I did the 12hr ready in PHL way back. Rarely used and paid 5.9/ day. Thank goodness I was young then. I couldn't imagine doing that crap now. You guys have it good these days.

We might have it better now ... but "good" is a stretch.
