Well I hope you know that I used to be a member of Teamsters. And by no means were they in bed with the company. Can't say the same about ALPA. Mesa is the last regional to fulfill a new contract. JO has said it openly that he doesn't want to give raises, he wants to expand and grow. He feels that is more important than raises. I disagree. We need to pay a wage that gets our FOs and FAs off the couches and into hotels when they can't get home. They are 100% negotiating in bad faith. Before the last TA, the union believed they could get under 10 mill from the contract. Before they announced the new airplanes, they miraculously came up with an additional 4 mill. Was ALPA that far off? Maybe Mesa isn't providing them the correct numbers? They aren't public, do they have to? This isn't rocket science. They are most definitely holding out on us. As an employee at Mesa, I say shut the doors if you can't afford to pay the average.

I'm with ya. Tell me where to sign. Most pilots I speak with are in favor of switching to Teamsters. Most are just afraid for their job, they fear that the company will play games with those involved in petitioning for a new union. JO likes ALPA, because ALPA plays nice.

No, it's time to dump Mesa. It doesn't matter what union you get in house, the same handful of guys will volunteer. No one wants to volunteer. Just leave the company and let it fold. Go to 9E and get paid more than I'm making in my first year at JetBlue while you wait to get picked up by a real airline.

If you truly want to improve this place then step up and volunteer. Because the previous poster is right. It doesn't matter what name you put on the side of the union it's going to be the same people. I've been in this long enough to watch the very low turnouts when it comes time to elect LEC members; or vote; or just attend a meeting. Our pilot group likes to complain, but when asked if they want to help out or be active or (god forbid) give up a day off to make a difference. The resounding answer is NO
