Yes they can reassign you all they want, a thousand times, but if you're a lineholder there are only three ways they can legally notify you of that reassignment:
1) A flight cancels (GOM then requires you to call them in this case, and they can tag you with a reassignment)
2) A Mesa employee/CP/etc. verbally notifies you at the gate or in the airport
3) You're dumb enough to answer your phone, self-notify in crewweb, and/or call them back
My suggestion to any lineholder would be to print off your trip on day 1, turn off your phone (or put it on do not disturb), and only make positive contact with the company if a flight cancels. That was SOP before smartphones turned us all into neurotic information-checking machines.
If Mesa wants lineholders to be contactable via phone during their pairing footprint, that's perfectly reasonable in this day and age. But they would need to negotiate that as part of a comprehensive CBA agreeable to the MEC and membership

However this situation was a little different: my trip had been DRI at least 2 weeks ago; yet they still assigned me something w/ 24 hours notice - yes I could've/should've ignored it completely and let them sort it out - had it been scheduled days off, of course I would have - I never answer my phone. But this seemed like a gray area and as was quoted from the contract, they can legally reassign you if your trip is dropped for IOE..
There was a situation last year, where the final turn of our trip was cancelled; we were all excited to be done early, until Chuck called us personally and asked us to do a different turn.. it wasn't considered junior-assignment/available because the turn fell w/in the footprint of our original trip. One of our FAs though, she bolted for the first flight home and because of her vanishing, they didn't have anyone else and it ended up cancelling anyway.

And go back to commuting, crash pads, dealing with PAX, FA's?, and type A's??
If I wanted to go back to flying a regional jet or light twin, I MIGHT consider it, but I don't. Sorry, from where I sit, and the QOL I have, I would say no thanks.
International cargo is the best gig in aviation. 717? MD80? From a 747? You're joking, right?

8 th year 747 left seat ( if you upgraded) pay at Kallita is less than 2nd year MD88 FO at Delta Sean
.. who is crazy here?
Plus 17% B fund plus 19% Profit Sharing
Don't say that next time you go for your first class medical to your AME

Lol so what do you do int'l cargo for? Have sex with Asian chicks..or dudes if that's what you're into.. followed by a decay in your body due to working on the back side of the clock, no QOL back home once your body tries to adjust..sounds like a blast..appears as if you want to show off the fact that you fly a big asz piece metal to me...and if if that's what really gets you off then each your own

So quality of life is better at Kallita than Delta? Are you kidding me?
99% of your pilots at Kallita under certain age of course would jump
in a New York second for a DL job
Again don't tell your AME this Sean.....
Anyway no more of this
Back to Mesa issues

I couldn't read more than half way through your post before I had to stop. Theres a reason international cargo is the best kept secret, none of you understand how good it is. I dare say it's healthier than flying domestic pax. I spend less time in airplanes. You guys spend more time breathing in turbine oil that gets into the packs giving you cancers, more time getting radiated from the sun, and more time sitting on your butt. On any given flight, I am sleeping for about 1/3 to half of it in the bunk, or walking around the upper deck stretching my legs. Yes, I am proud to fly the 747, anyone should be, and yes, I love our private VIP lounge up on the upper deck, especially on the BCF's. Our destinations are incredible, and we go to places you will never see at Delta. We are true world travelers. We also do some pretty neat charters, and other stuff that I won't talk about. But hey, you go fly your MD88 with your double breasted coat, flying with the best of the best, and enjoy your commute!
