Mesa treats you the same regardless of base. The company is not very labor-friendly to put it nicely. Having said that, if you live in Houston, staying there is important, want to work at an airline and have another source of income, I'd say it might be a good fit for you.

Sort of true .. but mostly not. (Sounds like Mythbusters, or snopes.com) The new hire pilot classes have been primarily at [one location], but some were recently displaced - due to the spring training and snowbird crunch. Some of the new hires were moved to [another place], which is not on the campus of ASU but essentially across the street from it. Even I was assigned it on one night of my freebie bonus 'commuter hotel nights'. [It] is a small boutique chain.

I get the impression you're very early on in your training. In which case you should be focusing on that and not which regional is the best today. Because it will change every year. It's fine to ask questions but do not get ahead of yourself. If you haven't finished training then you are still 3 years or so away from needing info about which regional is the best fit for you. I guess that's the world we live in now... "How do I get to a major the fastest"... but first get to this level before seeking such answers.
