Mesa 3.0
#2691
With all due respect, I don't have this experience at all. Mesa crews are extremely frustrated with the absurdly low pay, low per diem, poor hotels, high cost insurance, below industry contract, and lack of schedule flexibility due to inadequate reserves. Every crew member I speak with is trying to get out and telling all their friends to not even consider Mesa as an option until they get an industry average contract.
If you see a happy crew member, that's great. Every person should make the best of every situation they are in. Even as they are putting every effort in to better that situation. I.e., Change companies.
From my experience, virtually every Mesa crew member has apps out. They will make a lateral move if that is their only choice at the moment.
Giving bonuses to new hires ONLY has greatly amplified the frustration. What a way to let current pilots know that they are not valued. The frustration and aggravation level of Mesa pilots is growing stronger by the week.

But, the rest is spot on. I don't blame the new hires though. I put the blame squarely where it belongs, on disrespectful and deceitful top management and an ineffectual union. And, on the rest of us to some degree for allowing it to be this way for so long.

Just because we all appear happy doesn't mean everything is fine and peachy. I think I speak for most of us when I say that we are professionals and choose not to bad mouth our employer in ear shot of the flying public or with non employees such as yourself. Jumpseat conversations are entirely different however.
You never know who is listening in public and no respectable employer wants to hire a candidate who trash talks their current employer, especially outside of the work environment. It's poor form.

But also, don't sugarcoat it for potential new hires. They deserve the real story and to know they have better options.

When I was interviewing around the country a few months ago, I made an effort to stop and talk to Mesa pilots when I was traveling. Once I told them I was interviewing at other airlines and that I had interviewed with Mesa, not one of them suggested I take the job with them.
That told me a lot, when current pilots are telling me not to come, that only hurts them, so I take it as truthful. Pretty sad really, because everyone I met over their when I interviewed was really nice and very helpful.

So i've heard a rumor that Mesa is being bought out by someone? Any truth to this? Also a friend of mine said there were two current mesa pilots in his interview group at Envoy this week. Things must really not be good over there.

So, looking for some short term volunteers to help out. Have two projects, one easy, one a little more complicated.
#1) Only requirement is that you ACTUALLY READ the Intro document to the new UI. Looking for feedback on presentation, understandabiliity, and what questions it brought up. Or any other comments on it that your willing to share. Can do this one via either a PM on here, or an email to my Mesa or ALPA email address.
#2) Looking for a few people to READ the full blown training document and provide feedback to finalize. Specifically looking to make sure it makes sense and see if there's any topic areas I need to expand on or that I didn't cover that would like covered. Gotta email me to get in on this one, as I have to send you the document.
Please don't volunteer for #2 unless you have the time to see it through by the end of the week. In final stages on this and need some outside eyes to cover the "general" pilot perspective to try and head off issues before sending out out.
