Mesa 3.0
#2522
I would consider upgrading on the 175 in IAH but am currently on the CRJ in DFW. I live in base. If I choose another base I then lose my parking pass at DFW and have to pay for parking, which I heard is north of $600/yr. I will not do that. If Mesa would give a parking pass at the base of your choosing, like I believe they do the flight attendants, I would consider it. The reason I would choose the 175 and commuting to IAH is because the schedules are much more efficient on the United side. I would have more time at home by commuting to IAH. So, for Mesa's short sidedness with parking passes, I am trying to move on and away for Mesa. That's not the only reason I'm trying to leave. Lack of pay and benefits are a HUGE Reason. And I WILL NOT sign a training contract. I'm sure JO thinks that by announcing these additional aircraft that pilots will flood Mesa's new hire class. I hope he's wrong but we shall see.

These are reasons enough to leave. If Mesa really cared about retaining pilots they would provide out of base parking compensation via a single Letter of Agreement. But, you'll hear our current ALPA leadership say that it would have to be negotiated in the next contact. So many excuses with no improvements.

6 years and 4 months of failed negotiating and not one Letter of Agreement to improve the QOL of the pilots. This is a failure on Mesa mgmt as much as it is a huge failure on our ALPA leadership. Mesa mgmt has improved pay in the way of bonuses albeit illegal because of section 6 for new hires. It still is sadly below industry average.
