Too bad "observation" isn't in the job description for a First Officer. I'd be pretty ****ed if a FO said to me "I'm just here to watch and see what you do." This isn't an internship.

They we're trying to sell me pretty hard on going to Mesa, they said I wouldn't have to sit reserve, I'd upgrade as soon as I got my 1000 hours of 121 flight time and that they're about to get a new "industry leading" contract. One of the recruiters, a larger guy, also hinted at the possibility of a merger with another CRJ carrier based in Chicago and Denver. I'm just wondering if there's any truth to any of this. I want to trust him, he seems very knowledgable about the 121 world. I've got some decisions to make so I want to be well informed. Thanks!
Do some research. Or don't they teach research in College anymore?

Read back a just a few pages in this thread.
The recruiters are full of crap.
They get paid big dollars to get people in the front door.

Unless you are in the top 300 on the seniority list here, your life is gonna be miserable.

Worst work rules in the business
Worst pay in the business
Worst benefits in the business

AND THERE IS NO MORE TWO YEAR UPGRADE!!!!!!!!!!

Do not let them tell you otherwise.

Ah.......the proverbial big dangling carrot.

You mean the one that the ALPA folks are trying to keep out of the United States???????

Nice try

Cleared for a visual 35 miles out. A basic 3/1 and configure early until one feels comfortable enough to start "pushing" it. This isn't an ego contest- and obviously traffic isn't an issue, being cleared that far out, so take your time.
yea that works great at ohare

Why is everyone responding to this person? Just let him talk and he will get puckered out and go to sleepy time.

With the referral bonus, there's no reason you shouldn't be making close to mainline wages. Luckily, I have good relationships with nearby flight schools. The money is there, you just have to do the work for it.

You're absolutely right Alwayafterburn. With the bonus, anyone should easily be able to make $180,000 a year just like the major pilots (FO).

Most people can't afford to live on $19,000 per year, let alone provide for a family, obtain a home mortgage, buy a car, take an occasional vacation, etc.

I go to work to earn money to pay for a normal American life (home, car, family, etc.) I don't work because I have some "passion" for my industry.

(I don't work for Mesa.)
