I agree. We'll start to turn into Republic before they got a new contract. Lots of reassignments, junior availability assignments, and lots of canceled flights.

RAH is quite a bit ahead of Mesa, when it comes to pilot benefits.

Totally agree. I meant we'll have the same performance issues Republic had. They had a LOT of cancellations and delays before chapter 11 and the new contract.

RAH was a miserable place to work with all of the aforementioned problems of JAs, canceled flights, etc. Once it got to a breaking point, then, and only then, did management pay a decent wage, which at the time was the highest regional pay. Others proactively followed suit by raising pay (except Mesa), and I think it will take events like this to make JO pay market labor costs. Paying 30-50% of others' first year pay isn't sustainable.

Rah was pretty bad right before new contract and bankruptcy. Luckily we never had junior assignments. I can't imagine how bad it would have been with our staffing back then and junior manning.

How long did you work for RAH before going to Mesa?

I didn't; my friends who left there and went to Mesa told me how bad it was, which was why they went to Mesa, of all places, from there.

Seniority List

October - 1258
November - 1231
January - 1218

Even though they are hiring every pilot they can find that meets the mins, and will come to Mesa, the seniority list is decreasing. It seems Mesa has an attrition problem.

Ideas? Anyone? Bueller?

Perhaps it is time for a new, industry standard contract. Perhaps.
At this point, may also need to throw in some retention bonuses like every other regional is doing.

I can't see any airline throwing airplanes Mesa's way with these kind of stats.

It's actually slightly worse than that. The most junior pilot has a seniority number of 1218, but there are gaps in the numbering. There are currently 1210 pilots on the seniority list (plus 2 pilots with a seniority number of 0).
