Yep. And you do realize you are currently on airlinepilotforums .com, right? Why would you expect anything but talk relating to pilot pay and pilot contracts on a pilot forum? When you come here and crap on pilots who are trying to increase their pay rate to industry standard, on a pilot forum, you should expect a few raised eyebrows. Pilots have zero power to get mechanics, FAs, etc a better contract. So why would pilots waste energy even discussing it. They barely have any power to get their own contract improved. Pilot dues money goes to pilot contract. Pilots should care about mechanics' pay as much as pilots should care about electricians' pay. They are completely irrelevant.
Go spend $125k and a few years becoming qualified to do our job, then whine about us wanting to get paid a livable wage. Until then, stick to fixing airplanes and stay in your lane.

Man for pilots y'all are not smart. Read this statement carefully.
My point, which y'all seem to still be missing is there is a ton of people who without the airline would not operate without. You're not special, you're trades people just like mechanics, plumbers, or electricians. Instead of people around the company thinking "damn those pilots work hard and deserve a raise," you have everyone thinking "man those pilots are self-entitled d-bags going after the CEO over an iPad."

$32 an hour? Hopefully none of you would ever vote yes to that, considering that $63.33 an hour is what a new EDV FO is getting paid today. And ENY and PDT FOs aren't very far behind that.

So, although I don't think most of us consider ourselves "special", we do value the tremendous about of work, time, and dedication that it took us to become professional airline pilots. And we realize that it is high time that we are finally in a position to receive adequate (almost) compensation for our efforts.
"Special"? No. However, since corporate greed has destroyed this career to the level it is today, I'm afraid the pipeline of pilots ready, willing, and able to replace us, has dwindled to practically nothing. And the people lining up to put in the tremendous amount of time, effort, and money required to prepare themselves for this career has also dwindled to practically nothing. So although I agree that "Special" may not be the correct term, we are certainly becoming more and more scarce.
Need to replace an FA? Ok. Mechanic? Ok. Dispatcher? Ok. Gate agent? Ok. Payroll specialist? OK
Need to replace a pilot? Not going to be that east going forward.
And the training time from 0 time to ATP, plus degree? 5-6 years.
And $32/hr is going to get a NO vote from the majority of us.

Endeavor and the American carriers only pay $63/hr with the bonus included. What if we were to get the same scheme going? As you know, the problem with bonuses is that they can get taken away (doesn't look likely anytime soon).

Although most of us pilots would love to sit around and concern ourselves with what anyone thinks of us, I'm afraid that ship has sailed. Most of us, as mentioned earlier, are busy working 2 or 3 jobs to try to keep a roof over our head, food on the table, and make interest only payments on our massive loans. And God help us if we have a family depending on us.
